Senior Localization Engineering Manager

eBay Localization is looking for a seasoned Senior Localization Engineering Manager to lead a team of production engineers and developers who manage the day to day systems support, and development of our Localization Platform. Reporting to the Senior Director of Localization, the Senior Manager of Localization Engineering is a critical role providing technical support for other internal Localization teams, and interaction and guidance with development teams at eBay. This is a key leadership role within Localization, and the ideal candidate will be strategically adept, and able to deliver at a tactical level.
The eBay Localization team is a richly diverse group consisting of Support Engineers, Developers, Language Specialists, Machine Translation Language Specialists, Language Quality Assurance (LQA), as well as Product, Program, and Project Managers, whose members represent 20+ countries. We are part of the Core Product & Technology organization and work with team members across CPT and the Regions to deliver highly relevant experiences to local markets.
Our mission is to be the quality destination for full-service translation, localization, machine translation, and human language technology (HLT) support for all eBay teams and adjacencies, providing continuous localization through advanced automation.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in localization engineering; a minimum of 5 years as a manager.
Well versed in Localization, Internationalization, and Globalization principles
Experience leading end-to-end development in small Agile teams
Experience with the scrum methodology a plus
Solid Java and Java EE experience
Working knowledge of TMS technologies such as SDL Worldserver, XTM, etc.
NodeJS experience a plus
Experience with RESTful web services incorporating modern technologies and frameworks
Experience with data modeling, Oracle SQL, object oriented methodologies and user interface development highly desired
Flexible and able to deal with ambiguity
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Experience with Machine Translation technologies a plus
Mobile (iOS and Android) experience a plus
Great written and verbal communication skills
Excellent documentation skills
Great team player
Bachelor's degree in CS or related discipline
Working knowledge of one or more languages besides English a plus
