Sr. Product Manager – Performance Marketing

The ebay Performance Marketing team is looking for a highly motivated, analytical and entrepreneurial Product Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to help build the next generation of algorithms, models and decision support systems at ebay’s online partner marketing organization. You will be responsible for the creation and execution of algorithms and models to optimize marketing spending, pricing, targeting, and customer behavior. This role provides a right mix of operational responsibilities and strategic thought process. . This is a highly visible role within the organization and has an opportunity to influence how ebay runs it performance marketing channels.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy and Leadership

  • Define, develop, and evangelize team objectives and deliverables to optimize traffic
  • Identify, prioritize, execute and deliver on high impact improvement opportunities through marketing products and operations/business processes
  • Function independently with little to no supervision, proactively taking ownership of key Meta projects and deliverables
  • Proactively engage with internal and external partners to identify business trends and to anticipate needs to devise innovative solutions to build best-in-class Performance Marketing channels

Product Management

  • Define a vision for the product and translate business user needs to product functionality
  • Engage with Engineering team to push channels’ priorities and opportunities

Data Analytics

  • Develop analytical insights through assumption testing and sensitivity analysis and perform complex data analysis and financial modeling to support business case development

Influence and foster the data driven decision making process culture within the team

  • Prepare data in support of analytics, and assist with delivery of comprehensive analytics projects on marketing optimization and iteration of algorithm
  • Apply advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning, data mining and statistical modeling to design and implement mathematical models and algorithms to solve real-world marketing problems

Basic Qualifications:

  • An experienced detail-oriented leader with ability to influence executives and peers to drive data driven decision making and collaboration across various levels of organization
  • A graduate level degree in a highly quantitative field, such as Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics
  • Ability to conceptualize business problems and solving them through data analysis. Comfortable with pulling and manipulating data using SQL  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to communicate across business areas
  • Ability to prioritize and delivery on multiple threads of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate at all levels, including crisp and compelling verbal and written executive communication; able to formulate and articulate strategic goals
  • Strong personal work ethic, including personal initiative and ownership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data sleuth - SQL experience strongly preferred (e.g., data source identification, feasibility of joins, determines data reasonableness based on business insight)
  • Knowledge of data mining and analytic methods such as Clustering / Cluster Analysis, Factor Analysis, Regression Models, Logistic Regression, Predictive Modeling, optimization models, etc.
