You will be a strong business partner that can solve problems end to end, make a big problem small enough with diligent prioritization, and work closely across the org to scale that solution when successful. The role is part of a multidisciplinary, international team of data scientists and analysts that build unique solutions across multiple marketing channels. We’re looking for a well-rounded candidate that’s excited to jump in and learn new things constantly.

  • Technical Ability - Ability to form a problem into an executed MVP, using various techniques including calling API's, using python or R, machine learning, etc.

  • Senior presence / communication skills: Communicate well with and persuade senior leaders (in business units, product management, and engineering teams) to act on recommendations in order to have a measurable impact on eBay’s digital marketing performance.

  • Relationship building / team skills: Partner well with senior business leaders and the larger Analytics, Marketing, and Product/Engineering teams.  Become a “go-to” thought partner for key decision makers and functional groups across eBay Inc. Be able and willing to mentor junior team members.

Skills and Qualifications / Requirements

The ideal candidate has minimum of 5 year industry experience in analytics / data science.

You should be able to work independently, drive incremental results, and be able to push an MVP from end to end. You also need to be able to communicate results concisely to the business and mentor others.

  • Excellent communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills in English

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Operations Research or other quantitative field

  • 5+ years’ of professional experience in using data to facilitate business decisions

  • Strong knowledge of data analysis methods

  • Team-oriented; eager to build positive and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders

  • General knowledge of the digital media ecosystem and related performance metrics

  • Experience manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends and using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools

  • Proficiency in query languages (SQL/NoSQL etc)

  • High proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint

  • Eager to explore new territories and learn new tools / languages while at the same time keeping focus on delivering quick prototypes and results.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of statistics, knowledge in experimental design (A/B tests)

  • Experience in building simple web apps (Shiny, etc.), proficiency in Python/R, visualization, and an understanding of machine learning a plus

What we offer:

  • Dynamic, international team with very skilled coworkers, a passion for succeeding and failing quickly, and the freedom to bring ideas to execution.

  • The chance to work closely with other teams in eBay across North America, Europe, and APAC.

  • High team autonomy and impact.

  • A competitive salary, benefits and an excellent working environment.
