Lead Manager, Employee Communications

This communications business partner role is dedicated to driving compelling employee communications, engagement, and cultural change at one of the world’s iconic brands. Partnering directly with senior executives and Global Customer Experience (GCX) partners, the person in this role will work to develop and deliver employee communications strategies for key programs and initiatives within the GCX and Growth organizations.

The role requires a communicator who is committed to high quality and innovation. They love the challenge of capturing a leader’s voice, creative storytelling, and working in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working on a broad range of communications, writing and project management with excellent people skills. This is a hands-on role where you will be both conceiving the strategy and delivering most of that strategy’s tactical elements. Examples of day-to-day work include writing, producing, and editing written and video communication for a range of channels, producing global all-hands events – both in person and virtually, and developing communication channels.  

You’ll need to partner effectively with key internal partners and external vendors to drive active understanding and engagement with our brand, our business goals and priorities, and eBay’s purpose to empower people to create economic opportunity for all.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global employee communications strategies for multiple teams and programs in support of business strategy and priorities.
  • Advance our business goals, values, and forge deeper connections to our leaders through employee communications, programs, and events.
  • Create compelling presentations for executives managing content from ideation to stage.
  • Provide communications expertise, counsel, and support designated leaders and partners.
  • Help establish new digital communication strategies and channels that take our work to the next level

Skills & Competencies:

  • 10+ years of communications experience in roles that have driven understanding and positive employee perception of companies, products, and services.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with a special ability to cut through with a succinct, modern communication style.
  • Change management experience including complex organizational and cultural change.
  • Capacity to manage complex projects, navigating conflict and driving consensus.
  • Proven ability to work with partners at all levels.
  • Experience managing and participating in project teams in a matrixed environment without direct reports.

Personal Qualities:

  • Operate as a respected business partner by providing valuable advice and appropriate pushback.
  • Resilient, quick learner with strategic instincts and grace under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, fiercely committed to quality; able to manage multiple overlapping projects switching between them as required.
  • Works well in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Proven experience of delivering results – focusing on outcomes and impact rather than inputs.
  • Empathy, good emotional intelligence as well as cultural sensitivity
  • Good sense of humor and ability to see work as fun

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate will have 10+ years of employee communications and communications experience with senior leaders – preferably in a global organization within the retail, internet, or technology sectors. Bachelor’s degree required.
