We are looking for a Category Senior Manager to join our B2C team at eBay in Italy based in Milan and with a team that is empowering economic opportunity for their sellers, this role will lead an important category and report to the Verticals Director. The Opportunity:

You will define the category strategy and execute this through working with strategically important sellers, brands and retailers in your area ensuring that eBay has the inventory to continue to grow the category. As a lead in the trading team you will be accountable for both the operational and commercial success of the brand and retailer portfolio within your category.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the relationship with key sellers, brands and retailers within the portfolio and in line with the category strategy

  • Lead all aspects of range plans, target merchandise and use levers to get products on site to drive performance

  • Build category and market expertise to identify and exploit opportunities for eBay

  • Develop an excellent understanding of sellers’ business operations and current strategies and utilise insight to find opportunities for growth

  • Work as part of the trading leadership team to develop annual strategy and quarterly commercial plans

  • Lead a high performing team (2 resources will report directly into you)

  • Develop and drive excellent working relationships with a range of teams including Marketing, Communications, Finance, Legal and People

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years relevant category management experience (Tech/Digital)

  • Strong trading acumen, comfortable to operate in a fast-paced trading environment and skilled at leading  peak trading periods

  • Comfortable to engage at the most senior levels within brands and retailers

  • Outstanding negotiation skills to source critical inventory and establish joint commercial targets

  • Ability to operate with agility and to navigate change

  • Strategic thinker, with a strong background of driving commercial results through business development and acquisition

  • Experience of leading, mentoring and motivating teams

  • Proven experience of outstanding sales/budget performance within a B2C or B2B environment (preferably retail or ecommerce)

  • Strong background in working within competing marketplaces, knowing how to interpret customer needs and behaviours

  • Experience in developing and delivering a category strategy

  • Outstanding influencing skills at all levels and ability to work in a global matrix organization

  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
