The Job:As the Global Brand Manager you will help shape a new, more modern and relevant eBay brand in the hearts and minds of consumers across the world. Working closely with regional marketing teams, communications, product organization and other functions across the company, you will coach and partner to build the new eBay brand from the inside out.  

Your goal will be to drive the long-term success of the eBay brand by informing our brand strategy and future proofing, by advancing a brand-oriented culture, and by enabling on-brand executional excellence.

Your core responsibilities will be to i) educate and engage the organization around brand strategy, brand expression system, messaging and experience strategy, ii) lead and manage evolution of brand architecture, inclusive of naming, iii) own the stewardship and delivery of ‘on brand’ executions across the organization world-wide, iv) design, develop, implement and run end-to-end brand experience reviews across the organization, including regional teams, and build out optimization initiatives  

Ultimately, you’ll embody the eBay brand and inspire employees, partners and consumers around the globe. Reporting to a Senior Brand Strategist in the Global Brand Team, the Brand Manager will be a collaborative, strategic, creative lead with a passion for all things related to brand and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Engage across organizations to strengthen understanding of brand purpose, promise, traits, propositions, and expression system

  • Drive a modern, relevant and coherent brand expression and narrative, built on the global brand strategy platform

  • Partner across functions and geographies to ensure executions ladder up to our brand strategy and adhere to brand expression system

  • Build a comprehensive brand performance framework, including end-to-end experience reviews, creative reviews, tracking, optimization

  • Expand and update the brand hub which includes core brand strategy building blocks, assets, brand training, and engagement channels

  • Build knowledge and expertise around brand management, defining standards for ‘on brand’ executions

  • Share and reapply best-in-class branded content and brand thinking across organizations

  • Manage a coherent brand portfolio, ensuring systematic application of our brand architecture principles to naming, language, and sub-branding

Preferred qualifications

  • Versatile thinker who adeptly flexes between high level strategy and detailed execution, and between analytical and creative thinking

  • Ability to provide clear, structured and strategic brand guidance in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment

  • Strong sense of accountability, brand ownership and ability to coach down, up and across levels and geographies

  • Excellent consumer-centric communication design skills, as well as highly developed sense of creative excellence

  • Experience working with (or within) agencies on brand-building projects

  • Outstanding communicator with superior storytelling, writing, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence across all levels, functions, and geographies

  • High degree of comfort working within a proactive culture and navigating ambiguity

  • Operational excellence, innovative thinking, and creative approach to problem solving

  • Exceptional project management skills

Job requirements

  • MBA or Master degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communication, Advertising, Media and Technology or related studies

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in tech, CPG, or ecommerce/retail and/or creative agency experience

  • Experience in developing brands from strategy through execution across multi-channel marketing campaigns and/or product experiences

  • Proven ability to interpret and absorb data and translate into strategic recommendations

  • Experience in designing and managing brand architecture across a complex portfolio
