Job Description

As the NA Head of SMB/C2C Ads, you’ll be responsible for the strategy and execution of our Go-To-Market efforts targeting the SMB and Consumer-To-Consumer sellers who drive eBay’s marketplace. This will include setting, implementing, and optimizing the “one-to-many” strategy for these sellers, focusing on adoption, retention, and optimization. You will work in close partnership with several teams globally, including the EU SMB team, Category Management, ads product, customer experience, product analytics, finance, and the NA market team.

The right candidate has run a successful, scaled marketing platform. You understand the mechanisms associated with mass product adoption, future product launch and communications, and scaled customer segmentation. You have a deep understanding of analytics and know how to evaluate the different components of a complex ecosystem, and thrive in a matrixed organization with the ability to balance many different goals and initiatives.


  • Create customer segmentation framework to use as the foundation for marketing to SMB’s and C2C’s

  • Establish and manage appropriate marketing funnels for the customer groups to drive adoption, retention and life-time value of eBay ad products using multidisciplinary capabilities - from customer service to data science

  • Identify key areas of opportunity within different client and category (e.g., kitchen appliances, auto parts) segments, then set up repeatable “marketing funnels” to drive adoption and life time value of eBay’s ad products

  • Establish forward looking strategy to grow existing product usage as well as launch future products and features

  • Collaborate with internal global partners across corporate marketing, strategy, and product and engineering, on future testing and marketing platform development

  • Work on multiple projects at one time, using strong communication skills to manage time and expectations appropriately

  • Grow and nurture a team with diverse skill sets and experiences, including data scientists and content marketers

  • Can pull data and create analysis, measurement and success frameworks together themselves

Minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in B2BC marketing or “one-to-many” consumer marketing

  • 4+ years of e-commerce, direct and performance marketing, and / or D2C marketing experience

  • Distinctive problem-solving, strategic and analytical capabilities with a strong track record of setting and delivering against measurable metrics.

  • Strong communication skills in both business and technical partners, as peers and upwards, on cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous programs that require both critical thinking as well as high-speed tactical execution

  • Experience working with consumer-facing product and engineering teams

  • Experience planning and buying media - SEO and other direct performance, co-op, shopper and ecommerce, and digital brand-building

  • Experiencing establishing executive-level relationships

  • BA/BS

Ideal profile:

  • 12+ years experience in B2B marketing with a focus on franchisement, resellers, co-op marketing, shopper marketing, deals and “last season” retail, and full-funnel marketing programs that include regional, local, social, consumer-to-consumer, and other micro-targeting segmentation across the longtail business ecosystem

  • Strong working relationship with consumer-facing product and engineering teams, ideally within the advertising space

  • Demonstrable experience to thrive in a highly matrixed and multilayered environment; executive presence

  • MBA or equivalent

Role reports into the General Manager for the eBay Advertising Business in North America
