This is an opportunity to create a visible impact in an eBay growth business, to use your extensive talents to develop and implement the goals and strategies needed by our Development Team. In this role, you will lead in delivering exciting new Vehicle apps (iOS / Android) that promote enthusiastic engagement in our large and growing base of automotive sellers and buyers.

Key Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and leading DevOps and Engineering

• Build iOS and Android apps with close collaboration and alignment relevant eBay departments and partners across the business

• Coach, guide and mentor teams on architecture direction and tech-stack to deliver excellent customer experiences in a way that builds stabilized businesses

• Develop and implement goals / strategy for the Development Team to deliver impactful features

• Communicate insights and recommendations across the organization

• Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and roll out system changes

• Strong communication skills with the ability to drive issue resolution and root cause identification with the various teams

• Consult Product and UX about technical implications of product ideas

• Find a balance between short-term delivery and long-term scalability goals, let Benefit-cost ratio be a driver for all your actions

• Ensure code quality and maintainability by tackling tech debt, conducting code reviews, initiating refactoring and improving build and test systems


• 10+ years of mobile (iOS/Android) and backend (Java/node.js) development working in cross functional teams

• Development and launch of Mobile apps

• Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Web services

• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms

• Deep understanding of web services and SOA related standards: REST/OAuth/JSON

• Experience with PureLayout, Retrofit, XCTest, Espresso and other open source frameworks is a plus

• Familiarity with accessibility and localization best practices is a plus

• Experience with agile development methodologies such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) is a plus

• You should be enthusiastic, focused, detailed and organized

• Proven ability to understand the business and make appropriate trade-offs and contribute to technology direction that leads to measurable business improvements

• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, verbal and written social skills

• Ability to work in a dynamic, iterative development environment

• Proven experience as an architect and/or a people leader is a strong plus

• Passion for agile software development, product discovery and continuous delivery
