The Head of Motors (Vehicles & Auto Parts) will be responsible for setting the global vision and strategy, building and delivering on a strategic product roadmap, that puts ebay motors the market leader in both vehicles and auto parts business. We are also looking at a natural extension to the Business & Industrial vertical which is a multi-billion dollar industry that is ripe for innovation for online and ecommerce solutions and ebay is rightfully positioned to take over this market. This includes working closely with industry leaders, setting the tone on standards, revolutionizing the way people buy and sell vehicles and auto parts online. This leader will manage a global team of approximately 50 product, operations and engineering team members.

This leader should have demonstrated product and technology experience, starting and scaling new / nascent business online and influencing the industry to standards that fuels growth. This leader is an expert at directing teams towards a multi-year vision and strategy and iterative approaches and milestones towards that vision.

The successful candidate must have experience managing multiple complex, multi-phase strategic projects in parallel with the ability to manage global teams across product, operations, and engineering.  This executive should possess a proven track record of leading product and engineering teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to bring the automotive industry online with unique, relevant and engaging experiences that captivates the audience. Ebay has a rich history with its customers and the user experience and this leader’s role will be to create a strategic plan and path to execute critical changes that moves the ebay marketplace business forward to a trusted and a managed marketplace

Responsibilities:  

  • Create the vision and strategy for the motors (Vehicles and Auto Parts) product on ebay, and manage the execution of associated programs and initiatives to build a verticalized product experience that is best in class for both buyers and sellers.

  • Partner and engage effectively with horizontal capabilities (selling, search, product pages, APIs) to structure and optimize the experience to deliver customer satisfaction.

  • Lead planning for the product and engineering roadmap to drive growth across the motors platform.  

  • Build best-in-class customer / buyer /seller experience data analytics capabilities   

  • Implement leading data representation and intelligence capabilities to ensure eBay’s ongoing competitiveness and relevance  

  • Partner with business to understand buyer and seller experience, usage patterns, and trends.   

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience being a product or a tech leadership role directly managing product development teams.

  • Experience with full PnL responsibilities and owning the product life cycle end-to-end starting with building the business case (opportunity assessment), discovery and research, product development, product marketing and performance analytics.

  • Proven collaborator, partnering globally across multiple geographies with stakeholders and decision makers in a large, global organization to deliver an enhanced vertical experience for our motors customers.

  • Team builder of diverse and specialized talent in a fast-paced, global, environment.  

  • Proven product leader, with ability to guide the strategy for the organization and lead the strategy, product vision, execution and go-to-market plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to craft product strategies based on the needs of the customer. 

  • Ability to use market research and data to make disciplined product and strategy decisions.

  • Solid financial and analytical skills, with experience in translating complex business issues into financial terms and measuring team against financial goals.

  • Experience successfully managing multiple projects from concept to delivery while meeting schedules and budget.

  • Have a track record of developing solid personal relationships with partners.

  • Proven people leader, with the ability to inspire, lead, and mentor a high performing organization.
