MTS 2 Software Engineer
San Jose, California
The Zoom team, a part of the eBay Data Services organization, is responsible for building geo-distributed systems and services to store, process, analyze and provide access to petabytes of images and videos across the whole of eBay and across multiple devices in real time. We have designed and built all our systems in-house to achieve the scale and reliability we need. We are very fast paced and our engineers are exposed to the latest in agile methodologies, collaborative work setup, short release cycles, end to end ownership including devops, data driven decisions and strong positive team culture. We use the latest in cloud, data-center and open source technologies and also encourage contributing back.
As next set of initiatives we are planning on multi-year projects to support streaming videos across all eBay domains, deep learning training and inference and enhance our architecture for geo-distributed deployments and transactions. To achieve these goals we need a successful engineering lead to drive the engineering team which will own these efforts from inception to delivery and at the same time mentor and grow the team over the next few years.
- 8 years software design and development experience in any high level language like C/C++/Java/Scala preferably in high traffic online organization
- Experience working with distributed systems and knowledge of related algorithms and design patterns
- Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures and algorithms.
- Experience working with systems internals, networking and passion for operational excellence
- Flexible, adaptable and able to autonomously manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced, iterative development environment with short turn-around times.
- Experience and ability to hire, mentor and grow engineers.
