This position will work directly with teams inside and outside of Global Information Security (GIS) as part of our overarching security strategy at the Inc level.

What we are looking for -

The ideal candidate will have a passion for cybersecurity and developing/automating creative solutions. As an Information Security Engineer, you will be expected to be skilled at identifying security gaps in infrastructure and processes, assist on security reviews, drive best practices and display excellence with all tasks, a key influencer in your team’s strategy and contribute significantly to team.

Responsibilities:

  • Preserve eBay customer trust

  • Be Passionate about automation

  • Provide technical inputs, evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies

  • Designs, implements, configures, and manages solutions within the supported Linux technologies, products, and services.

  • Experience in SecDevOps, configuration management(Salt, Puppet etc), automation and orchestration.

  • Build data pipelines, ETL, and management of high volume data across distributed systems.

  • Monitors and proactively manages supported products and services to assure their performance, availability, security, and capacity.

  • Researches, analyzes, and formulates recommendations regarding technologies, products, and solutions to fulfill requirements within the enterprise.

  • Tool deployment and implementation experience on a global scale

  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for operational tasks which leverage available resources and simplify operational overhead.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in computer science or related fields

  • Experience in implementing advanced data structures and algorithms

  • Experience of working within product development teams and usage of tools like GitHub, Jenkins (and Jira)

  • Advanced understanding of modern Linux operating system (Kernel, security, hardening, tuning)

  • Advanced scripting skills with Python, Bash, SQL

  • Experience writing and maintaining tools and scripts to support automation and operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of experience

  • 3+ years experience in  troubleshooting issues in complex, distributed, multi-tier architectures.

  • 3+ years of backend development work

  • 2+ years of DevOps and Infrastructure as a Code

  • 2+ production experience with ElasticSearch and Kibana development (including scripting like Painless etc)

  • 2+ years of automation using  Unix Shell scripts, SaltStack, Puppet,  Ansible etc.

  • 1+ years of experience in developing and deploying in Docker/Containers on Kubernetes

  • Experience  with Openstack and/or other virtualization technologies

  • Knowledge of system and network architecture and interrelationships (technical and functional)

  • Solid understanding of network technologies like DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP & HTTP/HTTPS.

  • Experience with open source Big Data stack: HBase, Kafka, HDFS, Hadoop, Zookeeper

  • Experience and/or good understanding of Public Cloud Platforms (GCP, Azure,  and/or AWS)

  • Good communication (Written & Oral), Interpersonal, organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills

  • Ability to work with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Built and/or maintained tools to get the job done

  • Love to learn new things and strive to continuously learn and challenge yourself and others

  • Lots of enthusiasm and the drive to learn and adapt to support business needs
