Software Developer in Test

This is an opportunity to build a visible impact in an eBay growth business, to use your extensive talents to test new features that promote enthusiastic engagement in our large and growing base of automotive sellers and buyers. In this position, you will collaborate with peers in Product Management, Development, User Experience Design, Analytics and Marketing. Your contribution in the role of Engineering in Test on a full-stack team (frontend, backend, web, native) will be ensuring the Quality of the Dealer Tools for our high-volume customers in the eBay Vehicles Vertical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define overall test strategy for major features for the Motor / Vehicle Vertical at eBay
  • Design and implement End-to-End and API-level tests for Java applications, testing infrastructure, batch processes, RESTful web services
  • Estimate testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations and help rollout systems changes
  • Define automation strategy and ensure testability
  • Write best in class code to automate testing for your assigned feature areas
  • Develop deep understanding of the product, engineering processes, tools and concepts in order to effectively narrow down defects
  • Participate in design and systems architecture discussions, proposes and discusses solutions to system and product changes that are related to domain area
  • Document defects effectively and work with Development team to triage and fix defects
  • Coordinate testing across multiple teams
  • Work with other QE engineers, Product managers, and Product Developers to ensure that product specifications describe innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, and result in achievable implementation schedules and a product that meets agreed-upon quality standards
  • Close collaboration and alignment with all relevant eBay departments and partners across the business within a dynamic, success-oriented culture
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to drive issue resolution and root cause identification with the various teams

Qualifications

  • Experience working with remote teams - international travel is required
  • Knowledge of Windows and UNIX development environment, source code management and bug tracking
  • Experience is with iOS and Android platforms using native development and automation tools (e.g. XCode – XCTest , Android Studio – Espresso)
  • Experience using technologies NodeJS, HTML, Javascript, CSS, AJAX
  • Experience in testing high performance, highly scalable, database driven consumer web applications
  • Experience with agile development methodologies such as Test Driven Development (TDD) is a plus
  • You should be enthusiastic, focused, detailed and organized
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, verbal and written social skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, iterative development environment
