Job Title: Java/Python/PHP Developer

We are part of the Analytics Data Platform Team within eBay, working with a mission towards enhancing availability, security, performance, tools and other features within our Analytics Platform. eBay has one of the largest Big Data deployments in the world, with over 18,500 nodes and 500+ petabytes of configured storage.

We are looking for a talented engineer that has a true passion for building and shipping great software that leverages and supports our open source Big Data platform.

Responsibilities

In this role you will primarily be responsible for developing supporting toolsets that provide web-based management to our Big Data platforms. These toolsets are written in Java, Python, and PHP. 

  • Be part of the mission to contribute into and pave the path for the next generation Big Data platform at eBay
  • Work in small groups of extremely talented and dedicated engineers in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Contribute to open source projects while delivering value to eBay

Job Requirements

  • Experience developing Web Applications (front-end)
  • Ability to design high performance, scalable, concurrent and extensible systems
  • Excellent background in Computer Science fundamentals such as Data Structure and Algorithms
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven results-oriented individual with a delivery focus in a high velocity, high-quality environment
  • Comfortable working with Big Data platforms such as Teradata, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark
  • Knowledge of application testing and deployment methodologies
  • Prior exposure to Web Application pooling, load balancing, and infrastructure architecture

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent on-the-job work experience (2-5 years)
  • Strong Java development experience, with Node.js and Spring Framework
  • Intermediate Python development experience  
  • Intermediate PHP development experience  
  • Intermediate Linux and Windows OS knowledge
  • Disciplined working style requiring minimal supervision
  • Comfortable in both independent environments and in multi-group cross-discipline environments
  • Medium-to-Large scale infrastructure experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
