THE ROLE

People are at the center of everything we do. Our People team fuels eBay’s success through development of leadership capabilities, diverse talent, organization, culture and operational excellence. To accomplish this objective, continuing the company’s growth and transformation, eBay is in search for a Senior Director, People Technology.

The Senior Director of People Technology is responsible for partnering with functional stakeholders on the People team to understand organizational strategy, identify technology solutions to meet their needs, and partner closely with stakeholders to deliver the People technology roadmap. Reporting to the VP of People Operations, this role will partner directly with People leaders and cross-functional partners to define a People Technology vision and strategy in line with the overall People vision and strategy. This leader will build and execute a technology roadmap that balances strategic and operational needs of the People team, while continuing to enhance our digital experience.

The ideal candidate will be an influential leader, capable of working with a diverse group of senior leaders with varying styles. This leader will be responsible for understanding the business objectives of eBay, providing strategic technical input, and innovating experiences and processes to deliver business results. This candidate must be capable of working in and through a global matrix management environment with both business leaders and People peers.This seasoned leader must be innovative, collaborative, agile, and have a strong technical foundation, including direct experience in Workday and implementation of a broad range of People systems. This hands-on role demands deep knowledge of HR strategy and requires a seasoned leader who can influence stakeholders and inspire a team to drive people focused experiences, enabled by technology. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the development and execution of people technology, creating overall strategy and roadmap.  

  • Meet technology needs through proactive partnership, influence, and collaboration across People, IT and other internal stakeholders; partner with IT stakeholders to ensure consistent, effective design and implementation of cross-functional solutions

  • Create a culture of innovation, leveraging advanced technology to build tools and systems that unlocks operational efficiencies and delivers amazing user experiences

  • Drive consumer like digital experience in Workday and across technology landscape

  • Proactively understand business needs and partner to bring technology thought leadership to achieve desired business outcomes

  • Improve technology to meet workforce requirements creating opportunities for automation, reduction, and elimination of manual processes and the integration of other systems.

  • Manage multiple programs with teams focused on the timely and successful delivery of a product or system

  • Provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, balance the needs versus technical constraints

  • Focus heavily on collaboration to ensure key decisions and status surrounding technology projects are clear to all

  • Set and continuously monitor service level agreements with the business and meet or exceed agreements

  • Drive continuous improvement on our existing technology platform(s) to improve experience, scalability, availability and quality in a dynamic environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and leading people technology initiatives (HRIS, ATS, LMS, etc.)

  • Focused on driving People Technology Solutions and Experiences within Workday and across best of breed solutions

  • Experience leading system assessments and implementations, including project management, issue management, communications, and change management

  • Deep knowledge of HR strategy, processes, and best practices

  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders 

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a global, matrixed environment 

  • Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure situations

  • Experience leading a globally distributed team, including working with/managing contractors and technical resources 

  • Passion, and a proven track record, for delivering technology experiences that delight customers

  • Ability to shift from developing and communicating a strategy to executing in a cross-functional, matrixed organization

  • Excellent people manager who inspires, develops and motivates a team of technology professionals while creating an inclusive culture that is diverse, fun and rewarding
