We are looking for someone who is technically strong but equally passionate about product to help design ebay’s new Payments Platform. Someone who puts the customer experience at the center of everything we do. Someone who can work closely with the engineering team, helping them design scalable technical and product solutions. The Ideal candidate would be with a software engineering background, who has moved or is willing to move into a product role. You will be closely working with the engineering team(s) providing product requirements, influencing technical design decisions and writing technical specifications in a form of agile stories. You will also be collaborating with product managers in equal capacity to understand the business and product roadmap and providing valuable insights into technical capabilities of the teams. Additionally, he or she must have a proven ability to build relationships and influence across the organization at all levels, as well as superior communication and presentation skills.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • As the Technical Product Owner, provide clear product vision to your scrum team and co-lead the team with engineering counterpart to execute on roadmap with clear milestones.

    • Clearly set the product/backlog prioritization with a balance of near-term deliverables and longer-term investment in technology platforms

    • Have a global viewpoint and extend applications across use cases

    • Translate commerce requirements into generic payments platform capabilities that are extensible to multiple payment processors, payment types and models

    • Be a Product Evangelist and partner closely with business stakeholders and engineering leaders

    • Effectively communicate strategies & trade-offs to senior leaders and also be able to hold a Technical discussion with the development team

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Subject matter expertise in technologies and products required to bring payments solutions to market, at scale and globally

    • Experience with agile development process

    • Asks the right questions to formulate product perspective and present requirements

    • Balances technical and business acumen; able to communicate what is possible and what will have the biggest impact on business

    • Builds strong relationships internally and externally; an active listener and clear communicator; seeks win-win outcomes

    • Mentor junior Product & Engineering counterparts

  • BASIC QUALIFICATION:

    • 6+ years experience as a Technical Product Owner / backend engineer

    • Engineering/MBA degree preferred

    • Past experience in software product development leveraging Scrum & Agile

    • Experience in building a highly available Platform

    • Payments background preferred
