About the Team:

eBay is looking for an experienced Security Architect to join the Platform Security Architecture team that will be focusing on designing Zero Trust components and working closely with the Kubernetes team on cloud hardening and microsegmentation.

Under Zero Trust Program, eBay has been incrementally improving the security posture of our platform in order to secure customer data and improve efficiency of our product teams by integrating security controls into the platform and making security more frictionless for developers and other internal teams.

This role requires in-depth and hands-on experience with Kubernetes infrastructure deployment, Istio as well as Linux kernel.

Responsibilities will include defining architecture patterns and hardening standards, working closely with cloud and kubernetes team on shaping the platform roadmap in order to meet strategic security goals as well as fulfill compliance requirements. With the dynamic nature of environment, automation first mentality is a must.

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience in Kubernetes clusters deployments
  • Experience in defining cloud admission controls
  • Service Mesh / Istio
  • Linux Kernel and eBPF
  • Experience in LKM development
  • Cryptographic protocols and standards
  • Microsegmentation and network security
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Kata containers
  • Secure software development lifecycle / Shift Left
  • Experience working with highly distributed and scalable systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience with services-oriented architecture and web services security
  • Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing and the development of exploits
  • Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills and collaboration skills
  • Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
