We are looking for someone who:
Participates in data analysis, design, documentation, and maintenance of intuitive, Structured Data taxonomies.
Supports global research initiatives aimed at defining metadata, to identify and structure eBay’s extensive inventory.
Analyzes market trends and contribute to improving the selling and buying experience at eBay, through taxonomy and metadata design.
Researches, validates and delivers Best-in-Class, data-driven taxonomies based on a solid understanding of the ecommerce marketplace, including knowledge of top down, mental models, and heuristic approaches to design.
Designs and implements a comprehensive and intuitive navigation structure, to optimize searching and browsing for products on site.
Collaborates directly with other taxonomists, developers, stakeholders, and strategic partners to facilitate business objectives while adhering to sustainable structured data policy.
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned product classes and presents taxonomy decisions horizontally and vertically.
Supports various business units in structured data integration projects including SEO, localization, classification dictionaries and thesauri.
Bootstraps new products seamlessly to existing flat and hierarchical designs and focuses relentlessly on improving the user experience through improved taxonomies and terminologies.
Our ideal candidate:
Is a subject-matter expert (SME) in clothing, shoes, jewelry, watches, and/or beauty products.
Is passionate about data -- you strive to make informed decisions and measure the impact of your work.
Masters the information science field of content representation, entity definitions and its relationships.
Will lead an element of the 2020 Global Configuration Operations roadmap as well as a team of contractors.
Understands the challenges of content management in e-commerce, and embraces difficulties with an unflappable sense of optimism.
Comfortably leads projects with an overall accountability for success, and is willing to become a subject matter expert in different content areas of e-commerce.
Is a team player: that includes also being flexible to move across different areas beyond the comfort zone when needed.
Establishes and maintains effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
Responds to information needs through implementation/modification of taxonomy, vocabulary, tools and processes.
Proactively monitors trends in the Content Management industry, including: process, technology and culture.
Experience managing content teams and projects
Structured approach to problem solving – whilst remaining Customer Focused
Experience working with Taxonomy or Data modelling & structuring
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office set of tools.
Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of eBay’s business model
Flexible, open and comfortable working with a broad range of people across teams and cultures
Ability to work effectively with remote teams and to build effective professional relationships with ease.
Has a minimum: BA or BS degree, or equivalent experience, in Information Science, Data Science, or the equivalent in work experience
Familiarity handling relational databases/Structured Query Language
