About the team:

We are passionate about connecting buyers and sellers around the world and creating opportunities through commerce and technology. Our responsibilities include all aspects of eBay’s business in the EMEA region including eBay’s operations in major European markets -- UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain -- as well as driving growth in emerging markets such as Turkey.

As Manager, Indirect Tax, you will be based in Berlin, Dreilinden will participate in the global compliance and global indirect tax projects. You will be part of the Indirect tax team and will report to the Senior Manger, Indirect Taxes based in Dreilinden, Berlin.

The Manager, Indirect Taxes will:

  • Manage various indirect tax aspects of our global businesses
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various business resources, other tax functions, and external tax advisors
  • Deliver timely and accurate indirect tax advice to business units
  • Advise on intercompany relationships and transactions
  • Implement, review and optimize SAP processes dealing with indirect taxes and reporting
  • Manage and participate in development of software solutions for indirect tax automation
  • Coordinate with third party advisors, as required, who may assist in managing all or some of the above
  • Support indirect tax compliance aspects of our global businesses in several countries
  • Coordinate with various business resources, other tax functions, tax authorities and external tax advisors
  • Maintain a close and pro-active relationship with shared services, Finance and Treasury teams in respect of issues identified during indirect tax compliance process (e.g. incorrect invoice postings)
  • Develop training material and train key functions within the business
  • Support with the indirect tax aspects of new country expansion and preparation of VAT registrations in the EMEA region
  • Assist optimize SAP processes dealing with indirect taxes and reporting
  • Participate in development of software solutions for indirect tax automation
  • Participate in global indirect tax project

Job requirements:

  • Currently holds a similar position or is an Indirect Tax Manager at an accounting firm
  • Excellent knowledge of the EU Indirect Tax system, other country experience within EMEA of advantage
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Capable to working independently while acting as part of a global tax team
  • Working experience in multinational environments
  • Confidence, poise and diplomacy when interacting with all levels of management and tax authorities
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner in both written and verbal presentations
  • Demonstrated passion and track record of delivering results in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and set key priorities
  • Strong client focus; good listening, negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • A great sense of accuracy
  • Strong issue identification and mitigation skills
  • Continuous operational improvement skills essential
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel, if necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently holds a similar position in-house or at an accounting firm
  • 6+ years of Indirect Tax experience
  • Proficient in English - other languages advantageous
  • ERP knowledge
  • SAP knowledge an advantage
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Tax, Legal, or Accounting; advanced degree is advantageous
  • German Tax Consulting degree is of advantage
