THE ROLE

We are in search of a seasoned and strategic finance leader to partner with eBay’s North American General Managers across the Focused Categories.  Based in San Jose, CA, you will personally partner with GM’s in Motors – Parts & Accessories and Collectibles… and lead the high-performing finance team supporting the Luxury / High Average Sales Price Categories.  This role will support a wide range of strategic analysis, decision-making, resource allocation and financial reporting support these initiatives.  If you want to have a critical seat at the table to drive eBay’s multi-year Focused Category strategy, solve unique customer problems to drive customer CSAT & GMV, and build compelling business models that delight buyers, sellers, and eBay’s investors, this is the job for you!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As the Strategic and Operational Partner to the North America GM’s responsible for eBay’s Focused Categories
  • Build and develop easily consumable frameworks to define and set KPI’s, including top-line targets
  • Maximize enterprise value for each Category by optimizing (sometimes creating) the monetization strategy, driving investment decisions, finding cost efficiencies, and managing expenses to drive profitability and operating margin
  • Lead all aspects of short and long-range financial planning and resource allocation
  • Manage, encourage, develop, and continue to grow a high-performing team that supports the Focused Categories business
  • Work closely with Controllership to monitor compliance with GAAP, follow relevant financial control processes, and maintain appropriate audit trails at all times
  • Govern and facilitate compliance and high-quality execution with overall corporate finance timelines and processes
  • Provide key insights and supporting faster decision making
  • Work with global cross-functional teams and analysts on ad-hoc business projects
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting of the business' financial results including variances to plan, highlighting key issues, risks, and business drivers; Proactively engage in working with the business to make trade-offs
  • Partner with the broader Finance team, as well as other Heads of Finance on cross-functional initiatives.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading a global finance function with a preference for business case modeling and full P&L ownership
  • Track record of close partnership with C-suite/senior level executives and ability to influence and help lead the business
  • Superior communication skills - verbal, written & presentation skills with ability to transition seamlessly from complex analyses to simple/precise business implications
  • Experience working cross-functionally, both inside and outside of Finance, to collaboratively develop business and investment plans
  • Highly analytical with excellent critical thinking skills and ability to use data and insights to drive decisions
  • Extensive experience aligning investment of resources against a company's business strategy and objectives
  • Strong leadership skills with history of attracting talent and developing and motivating teams
  • Experience in a multinational public company from an organization with a highly regarded finance team… combined with experience in smaller companies to better support nascent categories from within a mature organization
  • Intellectual curiosity, passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Solid knowledge of the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and GAAP principles
  • Experience with database query tools utilizing SQL and a basic understanding of data warehouse architecture a plus
  • Advanced degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
