We’re looking for talent to take the complexity out buying / selling Auto Parts and Accessories by using mobile technologies, machine learning, and catalog to build simple and elegant customer experiences. We’re also looking at a natural extension to the Vehicles and Business & Industrial verticals which is a multi-billion dollar industry that is ripe for innovation for online and ecommerce solutions and eBay is rightfully positioned to take over this market.

We are seeking Software Engineers who are passionate about applying the latest technologies to bring our eBay Motors business forward with respect to functionality, performance, scalability and reliability. The candidate will work closely with Product Management, Architects and the Operations teams.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Define overall test strategy for assigned features.
  • Estimate testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations and help rollout changes
  • Define automation strategy and ensure testability
  • Write best in class code to automate testing for your assigned feature areas
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product, engineering processes, tools and concepts in order to effectively narrow down defects.
  • Ability to not only find a defect but also to narrow it down to the root cause.
  • Manual testing as well as participating in test design and test systems architecture discussions,
  • Propose and discuss solutions to system and product changes related to domain area
  • Document defects effectively, work with the Development team to triage and solve defects
  • Coordinate testing across multiple teams
  • Participate in product and technology initiatives and recommend improvements
  • Work with other QE engineers, product managers, and product developers to ensure that product specifications describe innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, and result in achievable implementation schedules and a product that meets agreed-upon quality standards
  • Identify process, technology challenges and deficiencies that need to be addressed and drive those changes to successful adoption
  • Identify project risks, dependencies and be able to provide alternatives yielding reduced risk

Job requirements:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 10 years work experience or MS with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium RC/TestNG/Web Driver/Cypress is a good plus
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end web application flows and tiers.
  • Experience building web and RESTFul applications
  • Experience working with frameworks such as Spring MVC
  • Knowledge of core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms
  • Full stack experience developing in Scala/Python and working with Hadoop and related tools
  • Code samples from private github repos, side projects, and open source project contributions is a plus
  • Excellent decision-making, communication, collaboration, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
