Senior Research Manager, Full Funnel Marketing Measurement

eBay is looking for an experienced insights leader with a strong full funnel marketing communications & media background (channel effectiveness). 

As a Senior Research Manager, Marketing Measurement, you will drive all full funnel marketing related research in NA and will support global efforts: creative development, pre-testing and creative optimization,in-market measurement and media optimization. You will help the marketing team make informed marketing and media choices, measure and maximize the effectiveness of eBay’s creative content and media investments across channels to drive consideration and long-term growth.

You will be responsible for distilling insights to help measure the effectiveness of full funnel marketingand support efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness by providingmeasurement & reporting, ad-hoc analyses, strategic planning, and performance optimization.This position will require a deep understanding of full funnel marketing and media research, strong analytical and strategic acumen, the ability to distill actionable insights from data to deliver clear optimization recommendations, and the skill to convey compelling stories for eBay’s senior leadership team (GMs, CMOs, Finance & Analytics).

This role is a key hire within a growing team, will report to the Director, North America Consumer Insights, and will be responsible for designing and implementing a series of research initiatives to generate insights and drive actions that will directly impact eBay’s marketing, business, and its customers. You will help ensure customer insights are disseminated, deeply understood, and used as the basis for development and enhancements of eBay’s marketing initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading research that guides creative development, full funnel marketing measurement and media optimization.

  • Managing full funnel marketing creative development and media measurement research.

  • Lead studies end-to-end, with research partners, to guide eBay’s full funnel marketing development and optimization questions. This includes scoping, designing, executing, and delivering results.

  • Establishing best practices, crafting protocols, and defining benchmarks for eBay full funnel marketing.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of and leverage key insights to help estimate spend levels, highlight competitor movements in and out of channels to exploit, and identify opportunities specifically with a focus category lens.

  • Responsible for delivering insights into the tactics being employed by competitors across specific focus industry categories for eBay.

  • Analysis:

  • Culling and analyzing data from interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, or other qualitative or quantitative research.

  • Understanding statistical analysis of full funnel marketing results.

  • Monitoring the performance of online and offline full funnel marketing investments and reporting the results to relevant stakeholders.

  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct assessments of historical, competitive, industry, and/or geopolitical media landscape to guide strategic decisions.

  • Leverage insights to help drive process improvement initiatives to scale data and measurement solutions.

  • Storytelling:

  • Create compelling, insightful storylines that illuminate opportunities and threats to creative and media planning.

  • Author executive level reports and make informed recommendations to key stakeholders and influencers that lead to action.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the overall Global Consumer Insights vision, strategy, principles, and standards.

  • Relationship building:

  • Build strong relationships with a diverse set of cross-functional business partners to understand their challenges and priorities, define research roadmap, and drive actions through insight delivery.

  • Partner with Analytics, Finance, Markets, and Marketing functions to get a holistic view to spend levels and allocations and strategies to maximize multiple outcomes.

  • Work with multiple research agency partners to design and run research studies, and with other communications and media partners to unpack insights and uncover optimization opportunities.

Required Experience:

  • 7-10 years of related work experience in market research and/or customer insights role.

  • Strong background in 1) full funnel marketing development research, 2) ad pre-testing, 3) full funnel in-market measurement and 4) media measurement research.

  • Proven ability to distill actionable insights from complex data and explain findings in a digestible and compelling manner.

  • Strong verbal communication skills and experience with senior level client presentations and meetings.

  • Collaborative mindset that allows you to work across a global organization to build a plan, get alignment, and execute it.

  • Ability to operate independently and build out new programs, frameworks, and best practice approaches.

  • The ideal candidate will have exceptional research skills, proven hands-on experience, a strong desire to help drive business impact/outcomes.

  • Preferred experience in omnichannel marketing, attribution, and ROI measurement, including performance and awareness of online advertising.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage projects, communicate effectively and be a self-starter.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in market research, statistics, economics, or related field. Advanced Degree highly desirable.
