The Head of Brand and Social Media Marketing, Germany (f/m/d) oversees the development and execution of all of eBay’s brand marketing activities in Germany. You will own the development and refinement of eBay’s brand strategy and narrative in Germany as well as the subsequent creation and execution of an ‘Always On’ integrated campaign strategy.

We are seeking for an experienced brand marketing professional who is passionate about developing cut-through brand narratives, creating integrated campaigns and driving bold, distinctive creative work. Working with the brand marketing team and our agency partners, a key goal will be driving through the line consistency in our messaging whilst leaning into global brand alignment.

Through a collaborative working approach, this role will pull cross-functional teams together to deliver brand and social media strategy, briefs and campaigns, ensuring eBay is top of mind for the German consumer. Driving creative excellence for eBay’s brand campaigns, you will be working across the full marketing mix. All with the goal of making relevant target audiences understand what eBay stands for and who eBay is.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the development and refinement of eBay’s brand strategy and narrative in Germany in close alignment with the Marketing Leadership Team – by building on eBay’s differentiating strengths, fostering emotional connections with the eBay brand and encapsulating and anticipating the Zeitgeist to create relevance

  • Crafting consumer insight driven briefs and working closely with agency partners to deliver bold, distinctive, and coherent creative concepts and assets with a ‘Customer First’ mentality as well as strong media plans

  • Aligning creative and media plans to maximise return on investment and innovation

  • Finding opportunities to connect the horizontal brand work with key strategic vertical areas for eBay in Germany

  • Working closely with the PR, Retail, Onsite, Content and Trading Teams to ensure maximum integration and creating a connected experience for our customers

  • Driving brand work measurement framework, reporting on campaign performance and driving forward takeaways to consistently improve KPIs

  • Partnering with the Insights Team to deliver brand research needs

  • Balancing local nuances whilst leaning into global brand guidelines

  • Delivering continuous efficient brand budget management

  • Leading all of eBay’s consumer-facing activations and campaigns in Social Media

THE PROFILE

  • Completed university studies – preferably in the field of Marketing / Communications

  • At least eight years of experience in the creation and implementation of brand narratives and integrated campaigns that drive brand consideration, ROI and best in class creative - ideally on both the agency and corporate side and with a focus on the retail, consumer goods, tech and/or internet sectors

  • Strong experience of briefing in and managing projects across internal departments and external agencies

  • Knows how to scrutinize and challenge media plans for maximum efficiency

  • Strong expertise in developing and driving Social Media strategies and campaigns

  • Experience in brand budget management as well as brand work measurement

  • Experience in reporting on metrics, insights and adapting plans, plus the ability to work closely with data / understand the commercial side of the business

  • Ability to exert influence at different levels within a matrix organisation and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A highly creative, solution-focused approach with a ‘can-do attitude’

  • Great teammate with a passion to work collaboratively

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced business environment

  • Passion for Retail as well as for the eBay brand

  • Excellent written and spoken German and English
