Sr MTS Software Engineer in Networking

This very senior individual contributor role will be responsible for designing and implementing automated solutions for Network Engineering at EBay. You will define, design and implement a framework for deploying features for network operations. The automated solutions will have to be rolled up into a framework that is reliable, scalable, flexible, fully automated and secure. The framework can be leveraged by the Dev Ops engineers to write custom automation for specific conditions. You will work with the engineering team to understand the feature and define solutions that enable the Dev Ops team to ensure uptime and network reliability. You will own complete lifecycle of components from design, engaging with other teams to manage dependencies, implementation, to monitoring of the deployed service.  

In this role, you will be responsible for critical components of automating network operations components. This will include owning certain components from design, engaging with other teams to manage dependencies, implementation, to monitoring of the deployed service. The position will involve extensive collaborations with other network engineering teams. This is a high challenging position in an area of large and expanding investment for EBay and offers a terrific opportunity for technical and career growth.

Strong development and design skills are essential. Great cross group communication skills and be able to work in an ambiguous environment and drive are essential.   Knowledge of networking protocols is a plus.

Qualified Candidates will have the following experience: 

  • 12+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience shipping products or services (enabling Dev Ops a plus)
  • A track record of successful collaboration across a variety of groups  
  • Online service or datacenter networking experience is a plus  
  • Python programming experience is a plus
  • BS in computer science or related fields is required, MS preferred

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Develop UI components and standards

Demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain/product area
