This opportunity is to work on the Customer service Technology team and we own the Online Customer service experience on both Web and Mobile and other touchpoints to ebay customer service. What we work on here impacts the lives of millions every day. We’re looking for the highest levels of technical talent and programming skills, as well as a keen desire to deeply understand our products and services to push our technology forward with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, and scalability. Our team is Global and we team work on technologies such as Java, Node.js, web-services, browser-related technologies (jQuery, HTML5, etc.), iOS, Android and database solutions (NoSQL, Oracle, etc.). The team also has an active AI Roadmap building Natural language Customer service bots and Search products. We build scalable and highly-available systems for the millions of users that depend on us to conduct their businesses.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Developing high volume and highly interactive web applications that work across browsers.
  • Define, design, and implement highly scalable, resilient and performant distributed systems.
  • Developing high volume and highly interactive web applications that work across browsers.
  • Work throughout all phases of the software development process independently as well as work jointly with other team members.
  • Collaborate with architects, product management, engineering, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions alignment to development goals and principles.
  • Lead product design, produce clear, well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Voice support for and communicate your design, methods, and results to a community of developers, analysts, and product managers.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, mentorship to develop and improve performance of individual team members and success of overall team.
  • Closely follow Definition of Done (DoD) process for better quality by maintaining over 80% unit test coverage and other release criteria standards.
  • Responsible for leading engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24x7 site.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of software design and development experience, solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, OOPs, OOA/D and Functional programming
  • 6+ years of experience in Node.JS, React JS, Angular JS, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, JQuery and related technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience in designing, and building highly scalable, cross-browser, cross-platform front end applications.
  • Craft optimized CSS with LESS or SASS.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform, accessibility standards, and design constraints on the web
  • Knowledge of REST services and Java/J2EE/
  • Must demonstrate a sense of ownership to plan, execute and drive the product work to successful completion and be successful in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD.
  • Ability to think innovative and chip in to the success of the products, processes and customer experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and to thrive under pressure.
  • Excellent decision-making, communication and teamwork skills.
