Overview

The Innovation, Partnerships & Operations team is tasked with driving innovation & partnerships that helps the Americas business. As part of the innovation mandate, you will work with Americas leadership including GMs, category managers, the M&A strategy, Corporate Development & Corporate Strategy teams, the Marketing & Communications teams and the innovation product teams to help buy/partner/build out, operationalize and/or take to market new innovative business models and tools. As part of the partnership role, you will assist & lead sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and implementing custom commercial partnerships to drive significant new inorganic growth opportunities to support eBay’s Markets business in the Americas.

As a Deal Lead you will be responsible for structuring and owning the end-to-end innovation project / partnership deal execution process for key strategic projects across the Americas region. This role will be vital in growing and scaling some of the most critical, visible and impactful initiatives and partnerships, providing invaluable thought leadership and deal execution expertise that align with the key strategic priorities for the Americas region and for eBay.

This role reports to the Head of Innovation, Partnerships & Operations within the Americas Ops organization and will combine excellent business insight with exceptional facility with data and operational rigor to become a key business partner and trusted advisor across the organization. The candidate will be able to balance moving quickly while keeping focused on high impact projects, to see the big picture while being hands-on and in the details, and to operate independently and productively with limited direction and supervision in a fast-paced and rapidly-evolving environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Define & Launch new products:

  • Define the product and GTM strategy.

  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes by delivering BRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification.

  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities. Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact.

  • Develop monetization and positioning strategies.

  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products

  • Be an expert with respect to the competition

  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners

  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal resources

  • Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members

  • Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed

Critical Thinking: Identify, evaluate and develop opportunities based on insightful competitive analysis, user/customer experience and market research and generate new ideas for business model innovation that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.

Project Management: Lead a dynamic set of critical projects simultaneously while working towards delivery against tight timelines. Collaborate effectively with eBay cross-functional internal teams. Ensure surgical execution and implementation of key horizontal strategic partnerships.

Deal Execution: Some deal execution experience is ideal. If not, be willing to learn from the team on how to initiate, structure and close partnership deals. Negotiate business terms and partnership agreements, including drafting term sheets and supporting the legal team to implement contracts. Ensure that eBay achieves optimum structure, terms and conditions for each deal, consistent with the overall business strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top tier university. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience: product management, management consulting, investment banking, strategy, or partnership/go-to-market backgrounds preferred

  • Experience designing and launching new products by collaborating across business, product, legal, strategy, partnerships teams

  • Demonstrate autonomy, teamplay, entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm, resilience and sense of commitment

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle

  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management

  • Self-starter and creative problem-solver with demonstrated ability to work independently and productively with minimal oversight

  • Ability to run multiple concurrent projects and drive action and outcomes in a large cross-functional organization

  • Outstanding analytical abilities to solve problems and provide practical and actionable business insights from complex data

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong PowerPoint skills, including the ability to create succinct and structured executive-level presentations

  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence

  • Ability to influence with diplomacy and tact across the organization to ensure business objectives are met

  • High energy with an infectious positive can-do attitude
