The Media Strategy Lead is responsible for the planning and execution of the media strategy for all of eBay’s brand marketing campaigns in Germany. You will lead the development and refinement of the media strategies for eBay’s brand work in close collaboration with eBay’s German brand marketing team as well as with eBay’s German media agency.

We are looking for an experienced media planning professional who is passionate about driving excellence in media planning and exploring opportunities connected with new channels. You should be knowledgeable about bringing together offline and online channels planning strategies and about generating all the insights, strategies and analytics needed to power effective media investments, including a strong understanding of our customers.

The role will advise the brand and broader marketing team on all questions relating to media strategy and planning with the goal to efficiently reach the identified target audiences. You will own the media planning process from start to finish, including the ongoing optimization of campaigns for maximum efficiency as well the overall evaluation of the effectiveness of campaigns. The role will report into eBay’s Head of Brand and Social Media Marketing, Germany.

Responsibilities:

  • Owning the development and refinement of the media strategies for all of eBay’s brand marketing work in Germany across all online and offline channels in close alignment with eBay’s brand marketing team

  • Crafting consumer insight driven media briefs and steering eBay’s media agency in Germany to deliver strong and efficient media plans

  • Ongoing optimization of campaign media strategies

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns

  • Exploring opportunities connected with new media channels and innovative media placements

  • Ongoing evaluation of different media channels in view of their efficiency in reaching the defined target audiences

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed university studies – preferably in the field of Marketing / Communications

  • At least seven years of experience in media planning - ideally on both the agency and corporate side and with a focus on the retail, consumer goods, tech and/or internet sectors

  • Proven understanding of media planning both for offline as well as online channels

  • Strong experience of briefing in and managing media strategy projects across internal departments and external agencies

  • Knows how to scrutinize and challenge media plans for maximum efficiency

  • Experience in reporting on metrics, insights and adapting plans, plus the ability to work closely with data / understand the commercial side of the business

  • Ability to exert influence at different levels within a matrix organisation and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A highly creative, solution-focused approach with a ‘can-do attitude’

  • Great teammate with a passion to work collaboratively

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced business environment

  • Passion for Retail as well as for the eBay brand

  • Excellent written and spoken German and English
