Payroll Supervisor EMEA (f/m/d)

About the team

Our team oversees all aspects of eBay’s finance, analytics, and information technology functions – including controllership, procurement, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, audit, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations. At eBay, we love data, so finance plays a critical role in establishing strategic focus, enabling growth, ensuring execution and driving efficiencies across the organization.

We are currently looking for an EMEA Payroll Supervisor. The EMEA Payroll team is based in Dreilinden/Germany, and the Supervisor will report to the EMEA Payroll Lead. This is an exciting opportunity as the Supervisor will be a key member of the team with the opportunity to lead 1 sub-team (2-3 Specialists) with an operational scope of approx. 7 countries with 1600 HC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing, coaching, and developing a payroll sub team of 2-3 Specialists
  • Responsibility for accurate and timely payroll processing for the assigned countries
  • Handle employee query process and act as point of escalation to raise customer satisfaction
  • Building and maintaining good relationships, partnership and effective communication with our main business partners – external: payroll provider and advisory firm – internal: HR, Shared Services, Stock Administration, Global Mobility, Controlling
  • Ensure flawless communication within your team, the business and employees
  • Improve and ensure adherence to payroll process controls, compliance and SOX
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and lead some of the payroll process improvements
  • Evaluate internal work processes and service deliveries, make recommendations, and manage implementing changes for improved efficiencies
  • Manage and lead payroll relevant projects by partnering with various teams (leverage of systems and tools, legal changes, M&A activities)
  • Adhere to the Company values and behaviors and maintain high ethical standards

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified commercial education
  • +10 years professional experience in complex payroll executing – preferably in shared service teams
  • +3 years’ experience as people manager and leading teams
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements in various EMEA countries
  • Good understanding of complex payroll specificities such as benefits, equity and shadow/hypo tax
  • Experience in working for a large company and dealing with high volumes of tasks and processes in a fast-paced working environment, whist achieving results autonomously
  • Competence to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency
  • Detail-, deadline- and goal-oriented with a customer-centric mindset
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Professional use of MS Office, particularly a high standard of Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, other languages are appreciated
