The Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Category Manager is responsible for working with FMCG and grocery manufacturers to optimise and promote their ranges on eBay. As part of our trading team, this role will use data to ensure the manufacturer’s range and pricing on the eBay platform is optimised for demand and conversion.
Working with focus brands / sellers to optimise their listings and other landing pages on eBay platform for conversion, this position will also be responsible for an ongoing trade plan of promotions and deals within FMCG categories. It will drive performance of these areas and take actions to address opportunities or challenges as they present.
Partnering with cross functional teams, the role will activate and optimise marketing, merchandising and sponsored commerce placements to drive visibility for FMCG products to ensure marketing activity is targeted to accurate segments.
Key interfaces include:
- Sponsored Commerce
- eBay sellers (brands and 3rd parties)
- Planning & Analytics, Category trading, GCX and Buyer Experience teams
Success measures / critical metrics include:
- Sales of focus brands and categories
- Price competitiveness and range availability
- Proportion of range on promotion / sales from promotions
- Listing and delivery standards metrics
- Return on investment of advertising spend
What we are looking for:
Category knowledge is a must, coming from within a retail or ecommerce environment, with a deep understanding of FMCG market dynamics within ecommerce. Due to this, you will understand what levers can be used to drive success and love delivering results plus calculating, leading and supervising important metrics.
As a Category Manager, your knowledge of how to build compelling customer facing propositions through the understanding of customer needs, problems and opportunities .Phenomenal organisational, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to self-start, operate with agility and navigate change will come naturally!
A keen strategic and analytical problem solver with the knack of sifting through detail and putting sophisticated ideas into clear frameworks, you use information to drive innovation and decisions, peeling back layers to understand root causes.
With a track record of building effective trading relationships with clients/suppliers/brands to drive a joint focus on commercial outcomes, you can build long term, trusted and positive relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
