Position Summary

Given its size and international footprint, eBay competes simultaneously against multiple marketplaces & ecommerce players, ranging from small, category specific players to the largest players in the world.

In this role, you will be responsible for

  • Developing & implementing a pricing and promotional strategy in France that ensures fees charged to our sellers are simple, transparent, competitive, designed to accelerate both seller and eBay revenue growth, strengthen eBay’s value proposition and drive behavioral changes.
  • You will own the monetization short and long-term initiatives, from ideation with the country team and finance teams to its execution from a technical and legal standpoints.
  • Your scope will include all sellers operating on the French market (B2C, C2C, imports) & all types of revenues (selling fees, features & stores)
  • You will collaborate with numerous partners, including Sales and Category Management, Product Management, Finance, Analytics, and Legal to align policies, economics, and operational efficiencies on the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define pricing strategies: Identify needs in evolution of pricing structure across categories. Collaborate with both Sales/Category Management and Finance teams to develop pricing and promotions strategies that balance both immediate goals and long-term vision of the France business for core and emerging value propositions
  • Design monetization initiatives: Drive sizing of potential solutions for pricing, promotions, and incentive products with analytics teams, incorporate financial and operational metrics, architect test strategies
  • Benchmark the external market: assess positioning of competing players in each vertical, research customer behaviors and needs on each segment and vertical
  • Maintain the roadmap and pricing impact of other departments: Integrate initiatives in a yearly roadmap and coordinate timelines with other departments. Assess combined impact of all pricing / monetization initiatives, including from other departments
  • Execute pricing and monetization initiatives: Own pricing operations ; Manage monetization projects end-to-end working closely with category/sales, payments/product, marketing, legal and finance;
  • Be accountable: Define business objectives and measure progress in achieving results; demonstrate strong dedication towards goals and driving sophisticated projects focused on seller success, platform economics, customer experience, and long-term success

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in Pricing Management, preferably with a web platform
  • Proven experience in building & executing pricing & promotions.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience synthesizing large data sets in analytics related tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, R, SAS or equivalent)
  • Skills in customer segmentation and competitive positioning with proven experience working on those topics
  • Proven experience owning the delivery of strategies and projects from roadmap to delivery in a highly collaborative culture
  • Capacity to builds and sustain strong relationships across complex organization
  • Oral communication and senior stakeholder presentation skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Self starter and driven

Location & Travel:

  • Position is based in Paris, France
  • Occasional travel to other eBay sites in Europe (1-2 per year)
