About the Role

The Content Lead plays a key role in the Global Brand Content Studio, the Center of Excellence for content at eBay. We’re a team of creatives, strategists, producers, and content experts that focus on high-impact initiatives and set the standard for content quality across the company. We champion the eBay Voice and Tone, develop end-to-end experiences, build guidelines for other teams to use in the creation of content, and build a forum and methodology to pressure test and review their work with our team and leadership.

We’re looking for a passionate copy and content leader who can own the storytelling experience for key eBay initiatives across eBay’s platforms and channels. The ideal candidate has a consistent track record of developing, implementing, and delivering enlightening, educational, and inspiring content. We’re looking for someone who can infuse eBay’s differentiated voice and tone into every level of engagement with the customer in the ecommerce environment, digital products, and through product marketing.

You’ll help define how eBay communicates with sellers and buyers and drive the creation of written content for multiple channels. You’re an inspirational and effective storyteller who’s passionate about high-impact and data-informed content to support eBay’s audiences. You translate complex situations into communications that are easily understood by customers, while infusing them with personality and tone and voice.

This is an international role. You’ll be working with colleagues across North America, Europe and Australia.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and be responsible for the copy and content efforts for a key initiative within the Global Content Studio and Brand Programs team.
  • Create copy and key messages for emails, on-site materials, advertising, and in core product flows, email marketing campaigns, articles, landing pages, social media and other communications
  • Partner with Brand and Content Strategy to deliver on key value propositions defined through messaging frameworks.
  • Champion and advocate for the eBay Tone and Voice and our brand guidelines across all initiatives.
  • Lead test-and-learn copy sprints, incorporating results and data into iterative approaches.
  • Adhere to brand strategy, guidelines and tone of voice as defined in strategic documents, playbooks and style guides.
  • Work closely with Studio operations to keep projects on track and on deadline.
  • Gain the needed insight of our buyers and sellers to better service their needs
  • Create and maintain editorial and educational content,
  • Infuse SEO and conversion tactics/strategies into content development
  • Build content in custom content management systems
  • Guide content through eBay approval processes
  • Review performance of content with a view to increasing its effectiveness
  • Plan and attend regular meetings with internal customers and partners
  • Develop, manage, and maintain close relationships with internal customers and Marketing, Brand, Legal departments, and the wider Global Brand Content Studio teams

  • Educated –Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a field such as Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Internationally-Minded – Understanding of the cultural difference between countries and how to effectively adapt/localize global communications.
  • Experienced – 7+ years of editorial experience in marketing, tech, journalism, product, or other fields.\
