eBay is looking for Software Engineers, location flexible in US

Understanding user behavior is a key to drive growth at eBay. Tracking Platform Engineering team is looking for folks who thrive for coding and debugging complex problems across a range of technology stacks. Our focus is on providing the platform which eBay can leverage to understand user behavior  on the web, mWeb, and Native app. We serve billions of calls a day and with low latency and enable Product Managers around eBay to validate their ideas and enable high quality and data-driven decision making.. 

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in CS with 7-10 years of experience in software engineering, coding, design and architecture

  • Solid foundations in computer science - data structures, logical thinking, algorithms, space-time complexities, operating Systems, databases etc

  • Proficient in java programming language

  • Experience working with distributed systems - Kafka, Elastic Search

  • Well versed with development tools like git, jenkins

  • Proven expertise in building platforms that support scale, security, availability, performance and automation

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in building microservices based architecture and platforms developed and deployed at scale

  • Experience with debugging and code analysis in high scale distributed architectures (dissecting features, stepping through program execution with a debugger, examining system internals)

  • Expertise in test-driven development and establishing a DevOps practice

  • Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, or Extreme Programming methodologies

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and advance the capabilities of our tracking platform framework

  • Drive, design, build and deliver software systems with high quality

  • Participate in code reviews and architectural design

  • Implement and automate Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Build diagnostic tools to debug and diagnose system failures and production issues; perform failure analysis and effectively identify root causes of alerts, failures and issues
