Strategy and Analytics is responsible for delivering business insights and high impact analyses to the Kijiji Canada business. The Finance, Analytics, Strategy Team (FAST) partners with business unit clients to address strategic and operational questions facing the business including user behavior, supply and demand dynamics, performance measurement, financial planning, and product and marketing efficiency. We are currently seeking to hire one (1) employee who enjoys the technical aspects of coding and modeling to tackle exciting business problems, as well as interacting with our staff and senior leaders to drive business results. In this position, you will design queries to extract from over 50 petabytes of data in eBay’s data systems, and analyze this data to build statistical models using an abundant variety of tools and software available. These models will identify business trends, develop insights, and create actionable solutions to grow all aspects of trade and revenue on Kijiji.


  • Experienced with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong database query skills (i.e. SQL) and an understanding of data warehouse architecture; additional querying environments (e.g., Hadoop/HIVE) are a plus
  • Knowledge of statistical processes and reasoning; proficiency with statistical analysis tools and associated languages (e.g., R, Python, SPSS) is a plus
  • Exceptional business judgment and quantitative analytical abilities
  • Previous eBay / Kijiji experience is helpful (to minimize ramp-up time)
  • Strong academic profile with an emphasis on quantitative and / or business coursework
  • Intellectual curiosity, real passion for problem-solving, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience distilling and presenting complex quantitative analysis; experience with BI / data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Familiarity with online commerce and web analytics; experience with Google Analytics

Job Description:

  • Assist in the preparation of key strategic quantitative analyses of the Kijiji Canada business to facilitate fact-based decision-making with a focus on return on investment
  • Application of exceptional analytical and data synthesis skills to test hypotheses and deliver key business insights utilizing both Kijiji and external data sources. Analyses will be both ongoing and project-based in nature. They will often be complex, whereby large volumes of data are synthesized into actionable recommendations and complex models developed
  • Develop and maintain necessary dashboards, both automated and manual, across multiple data sets to provide insight and drive business decisions
