The Head of Marketing leads all aspects of marketing strategies, tactics and execution to strengthen eBay’s Canadian market position. This leader is responsible for the Canadian marketing team as well as developing strong partnerships with the broader North American and global marketing teams. The role reports into the General Manager of the Canadian business and will be a key member of the Canadian leadership team.
Drive the brand vision ensuring a strong, consistent brand presence in the Canadian market
Lead the Canadian relationship marketing team in developing integrated marketing strategies across email, onsite, mobile, social media, etc. around key retail events to drive traffic and incremental sales, as well as retain current customers and acquire new and reactivated customers.
Develop and lead Canadian strategy vis a vis paid marketing channels (including: paid search, affiliates, paid social, display); work closely with channel teams to analyze results to ensure appropriate execution and optimization
Own the Canadian marketing budget, set current and long-term goals and ensure deployment of budget to meet/exceed performance goals; lead Canada’s participation in quarterly and annual marketing budgeting and goal-setting process and effectively advocate for Canadian inclusion in key North American and Global campaigns.
Build strong relationships with marketing leaders around the world in order to share best practices and ensure that Canada is included in all relevant North American and Global initiatives
Develop a supportive and high-performing Canadian marketing team including recruiting, managing, mentoring and developing direct reports and their teams
Actively participate in the management of the business as a member of the Canadian leadership team
Oversee agency relationships and evaluate, develop and manage marketing partnerships
Well-rounded marketing experience with a proven track record of rapidly accelerating growth across multiple channels and building programs from the ground up
Deep expertise in digital marketing including email and onsite, paid marketing and social media; at the forefront of digital innovation and able to optimize our efforts
Strong background in performance marketing; deep quantitative skills; ability to use data to develop insights for program optimization and investment decision-making
Experience leading and supporting results-driving campaigns inside a matrixed consumer organization, with competing demand for target customers
Data-driven problem-solver with a track record of delivering results in complex environments
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – able to work across matrixed global environments to develop collaborative partnerships and deliver results
Self-starter with a bias to action – able to find creative ways to get things done, experiment and pivot as needed
Strong leadership and team building skills – an active listener who draws out individual and team strengths
Passionate about helping Canadian small businesses succeed
10+ years’ experience in progressively senior marketing leadership roles; ideally with the most recent at a leading consumer brand with an emphasis on an ecommerce / digital-first experience
