Software Engineer in TestLondon, England Requisition Number R0014801 Subsidiary eBay
Looking for a company that inspires passion, courage and imagination, where you can be part of the team shaping the future of global commerce? Want to shape how millions of people buy, sell, connect, and share around the world? If you’re interested in joining a purpose driven community that is dedicated to creating an ambitious and inclusive workplace, join eBay – a company you can be proud to be a part of.
We’re looking for an experienced software tester who is excited by the challenge of testing software at scale in an Agile environment.
What is Product Development like in the eBay Commerce Experience Group?
European Product Development (EPD) has teams in London and Berlin; we're part of a much larger Seller Experience group within eBay. We enable commerce at scale, have massive customer impact. We are on a mission to globally improve eBay technology, drive agile adoption and demonstrate customer centric development.
The Seller Experience group is responsible for improving the experience of our 25 million sellers worldwide. To do this, we improve existing experiences and build new products to make the life of eBay sellers better, no matter where in the world they are based.
We are continually striving for the highest quality, and work in small focussed teams following bits of Scrum, bits of Kanban, with a healthy dose of Extreme Programming (p.s these aren't buzzwords, we mean it when we say we do this stuff).
Our cross functional teams have Product Management, all aspects of Product Development (including DevOps and Test), and UX all working together on a daily basis. Working at eBay is a rewarding, challenging and inspiring experience.
What sort of tester are we looking for?
We’re after an experienced software tester who is excited by the challenge of testing software at scale. You’re at home in an Agile environment and your inquisitive nature and desire to dig into the unknown are two of your strengths.
Our programmers are serious about testing and write their own tests as they code. You’ll be the specialist in the team, facilitating a testing mindset during design and story breakdown as well as weighing in on project testing strategy and providing guidance and coaching.
You will work with people who care about well written, test-driven, clean code, delightful user experiences and all the lovely stuff that's involved with automatically tested, zero touch deployed applications. The team works very closely, and like to pair program on pretty much everything.
Our teams decide the right tool for the job, so you should be comfortable doing this too. We have a lot fun discussing the merits of different technology and we want people who can join and lead these conversations.
Having a desire to expand and master something new means you're a good fit for us. Because of this culture, we also like our folks to be open, honest and direct.
We value individual contributors on the team and department level greatly, and have a fantastic culture of recognising self starters.
We hope you're getting the idea of what we're looking for. We're looking for great people, with an opinion, and the capability to back it up.
