Manager, Software Engineering

Seeking a motivated Software Engineering Manager to join the Customer Service Technology team at eBay. You will be leading the engineering team that defines and implements solutions for Customer Service focusing on Agents, Supervisors, Team leads. You will help define the technology solution plan to match the business strategy, and lead the implementation including architecture, development and tech operations of the applications and manage the engineering outcomes. You will work closely with the product management and other multi-functional teams in CS Technology and eBay core technology team.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage the Marketplace solutions planning and development

  • Define technology roadmap for the engineering team

  • Define and drive product and technology strategy and direction according to business needs

  • Drive execution for technology initiatives in CS Technology group

  • Work closely self-service, CS platform, CS tools team and other teams within CS Technology on technical solutions

  • Work closely with customer service organization and business partners

  • Collaborate with eBay core technology and product team

  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews

Must Have:

  • BS or Master’s in computer science or related fields with 10+ years of relevant experience

  • 3+ years of managerial experience

  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge in applications and systems for customer service

  • Experience building applications for multi-channel usage bring to bear shared services, UI technologies, process automation

  • Experience in building secure applications with a comprehensive, centrally coordinated security framework

  • Experience leading a technology team

  • Experience in building large scale Web Services and backend application using .Net, Scala, or Java/J2EE

  • Experience in agile development

  • Experience in web technologies and architecture

  • Experience with database backend technologies and architecture

  • Background in customer service field is helpful

  • Experience in implementing technical solutions for customer service is a plus

  • Strong communication skills
