About the team:

At the core of everything we do, we ensure that eBay’s customers are front-and-center in all our strategic decisions and that we execute our plans with our customers as our most important priority. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Risk, and Controls, you will be a key member of a newly created internal controls focused team within our Global Customer Service (GCX) group, and responsible for the following.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a new internal controls program for payments and risk operations
  • Build strong relationships with relevant business partners to thoroughly understand their business and identify appropriate risk mitigations and opportunities to add value
  • Assist the business in developing process, policies and controls, and measures to evaluate compliance with policies and programs
  • Develop internal control monitoring activities to ensure adherence to established procedures and controls
  • Conduct ongoing formal testing of the design and operating effectiveness of critical operational processes
  • Identify process improvements and simplification of processes and systems
  • Actively participate in the deployment of new policies, procedures and business process, and system implementation ensuring that proper controls are implemented
  • Serve in an advisory role on projects to ensure key risks and controls are addressed and adhered to, assisting the project team to reach appropriate decisions that capture control requirements
  • Assist with major global projects and/or process re-designs due to business model and process changes
  • Provide control-related support and training for the team to help mitigate operating risk through fostering an effective controls environment
  • Perform risk and gap assessments and develop audit plans around key risk areas identified
  • Implement new processes and controls in response to changes in the business environment, such as; new product introduction, changes in payment standards, and internal process changes
  • Manage audit projects and supervise team resources on a project by project basis
  • Work with external auditors to coordinate the timing and execution of audits and any related findings and management action plans

Preferred Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of audit (internal or external), controls, compliance, and/or risk operations experience preferably within the e-commerce or financial services industry
  • Strong communication skills to educate/raise awareness of foundational elements/methodologies needed to support an internal control framework
  • Experience designing and implementing controls and performing operational risk assessments
  • Ability to document and verbally communicate the status of audits and results of control testing processes in a clear and concise manner, including assessment of design and operating effectiveness of controls
  • Experience managing, monitoring and remediating deficient controls
  • Proficient at navigating through ambiguity along with handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Process management experience, including process redesign, efficiencies, and optimization
  • Experience supervising team members and audits
  • Demonstrated project management experience (PM certification a plus)
