This position is with our Batch Operations Team!

You would be responsible for contributing with our team for the 24x7 availability and performance of eBay's several Automic Automation installations. These installations serve Operations, Product Development, and Analytics teams throughout the company, supporting functions in every critical area of business: payment processing, shipment tracking, user billing, marketing campaigns, customer service, financial analysis... just to name a few. We handle various API integrations, hundreds of active users, thousands of agent servers, tens of thousands of outstanding jobs and workflows, and hundreds of thousands of job executions per day.

Responsibilities

  • Install upgrades and patches regularly
  • Drive bug resolution with Broadcom support
  • Advise diverse teams and users on workflow, standards, procedures, integrations, and migrations
  • Drive good architectural choices for Automic Automation scheduler and potentially other job scheduling systems
  • Maintain assorted monitoring/administrative tools
  • Manage accounts and authorizations

Upcoming projects

  • Implementation of TLS 1.2 and ZDU for Automic Automation systems
  • Disaster recovery (fast/automated failover) strategy & implementation
  • Crafting prod-staging environment parity & implementing continuous delivery methods
  • Migration of underlying hardware to new infrastructure
  • Migration of jobs & workflows to other schedulers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant experience with Automic Automation (formerly UC4) back end installation, administration, operations, and workflow development
  • Ability to install new instances, tackle sophisticated problems, and restore service during production emergencies
  • Linux/Unix shell scripting (intermediate) & sys admin (basic)
  • Web server administration (basic)
  • SQL (intermediate)
