We are looking for an experience and motivated leader to join the eBay Team. You will be responsible for crafting, building, launching and handling our European Export platform in partnership with our Global Product organization and our local Logistics teams. In specific you will lead a fully functional Export solution for eBay's European customers which will be to enable virtually 100% of EU products become shippable worldwide while ensuring that our EU buyers have a smooth experience when buying from foreign sellers.

You will strategize the vision and operationalize the platform. You will work with marketing, technology and product management teams to deliver the solution. You will also work with 3rd party logistics providers (3PLs) and Tax service providers to stitch together the program that will work best for sellers and buyers across the board. You will collaborate with business units, product and technology teams, shipping carriers, logistics providers, buyers and sellers in different markets like North America, European Union and Asia Pacific to understand areas of opportunity for operating domestic and cross border trade while spectacularly improving availability of EU products worldwide as well as crafting a consistent and comprehensive experience for our Buyers.

This position will have the lead responsibility for running our key program named Export 2.0 for EU and can be based in Bern, London or Berlin.

The Director EU export platform will be responsible for

  • Collaborating to the design of the customer experience together with our Global Product team and the subsequent go to market strategy
  • Run the overall program from an operational, P&L and customer happiness perspective
  • Work closely with partners through regular reporting and meetings
  • Be responsible for the product experience strategy and implementing the plan
  • Work closely with other regional teams to ensure we use our product resources available efficiently

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a combination of operational and leadership skills, gained in omnichannel retail, or shipping and logistics service provider, or omnichannel consulting environment. They will have worked in shipping and/or operational roles and have experience running multiple third-party partners. Ideally, they will have cross-functional experience working with multiple partners in a sophisticated matrix organisation. Preferred qualifications and skills include:

  • Experience in a senior logistics/ operations execution role preferably within ecommerce involving millions of transactions
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills – ability to convert complex problems into addressable solutions
  • Successful track record of effectively defining, launching, and managing day to day operations of internet or mobile products and/or services
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills in order to be able to challenge, influence and make recommendations within the business
  • Deep knowledge of carriers, shipping and fulfilment solutions
  • Strong relationship building, energising and influencing skills with peers and senior partners across multiple functions and geographies

  • Professional style and manner – ability to project gravitas, authority, credibility
  • Comfortable operating within multiple priorities and objectives
  • Upbeat, flexible, and comfortable with working through ambiguity
  • Recognised as authority and able to convey sense of confidence and calmness in high pressure situations
