The Role

The Manager EU Affairs will be an integral part of the diverse and inclusive Brussels-based EU Government Relations team and report to the Head of GR EMEA with a dotted line to the global lead on seller advocacy. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day interaction with relevant EU Institutions and trade associations, representing the interests of eBay and its community of buyers and sellers.

The position will take ownership for a variety of regulatory and policy files in fields such as e-commerce, tax, privacy, financial services, circular economy and consumer protection. An important part of the manager’s role will also be to serve as liaison officer in the EU for eBay's external affairs team, which coordinates seller advocacy and grass roots initiatives.

About you

As Manager for EU Affairs, you have an academic background in areas such as political science, economics, or law, and at least 3-6 years relevant experience with a strong, proven track record in government relations and public affairs. This will either be in government, consultancy, a trade association or, for example, as part of an in-house government/public affairs department.

In-depth knowledge of EU legislation and affinity with the commerce and tech sectors are key, as well as a strong network in EU institutional circles.

Outstanding English is a must (written and verbal) plus the ability to build great working relationships internally and externally. Finally, a passion for eBay, a good sense of humor and appetite for team work are essential!
