Content Strategist

Intermediate level full time position – Remote

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Content Strategy, the Content Strategist plays a key role in the Global Content Studio –  the Center of Excellence for content at eBay. We’re a team of creatives, strategists, producers, and content experts that focus on executing high-impact initiatives and set the standard for content quality across the company. We champion the eBay Voice and Tone, develop end-to-end experiences, develop guidelines for other teams to use in the creation of content, and build a forum and methodology to pressure test and review their work with our team and leadership.

Passionate about storytelling and eBay’s service offerings, you'll be a leading partner to ensure content strategy is empathetic, data-informed, engaging, and impactful. Put your deep thinking to the test as you develop strategic narratives that support various stages of content engagement and identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.

We’re looking for a hardworking and motivated individual with excellent writing and verbal communication skills to join us. This role sits within the content strategy team, which builds a comprehensive strategic direction that spans the marketing lifecycle and customer journey.

You’ll define how eBay communicates with sellers and buyers in the marketplace, directly informing the content that’s written and produced for multiple channels. You're an effective storyteller who’s passionate about high-impact and data-informed content to support eBay’s audiences.

This is an international role with colleagues across North America, Europe and Australia.

Your tasks

Brand Integrity

  • Develop a deep understanding of our brand strategy, market, and buyer and seller needs and how they align with the customer journey.

  • Gain the needed insight of our buyers and sellers to better service their needs.

  • Write and edit strategic documents to align with brand strategy, guidelines, and tone of voice.

Content Strategy & Execution

  • Build and scale effective strategic narratives to ensure a unified messaging approach.

  • Develop content engagement maps and integrated content calendars to support omnichannel programs.

  • Educate, inform, and enable content teams to create powerful, on-brand copy, design and video.

  • Conduct competitive landscape research, lead brainstorms and reviews.

  • Create strategic artifacts to guide decision making and debate while providing thoughtful recommendations. 

  • Apply and modify strategy fundamentals to support focused categories.

  • Collaborate cross functionally to drive strategy, action, and goals.

  • Integrate established SEO keyword strategies into strategic narratives.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and comfort in a sometimes ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

  • Review a wide range of content to ensure it aligns to strategic foundations.

  • Participate in team brainstorm sessions and collaborate to develop strategic positioning and value propositions.

  • Exceptional interviewing skills and ability to extract key findings.

  • Maintain and build on key relationships and forge new alliances with internal partners.

Who you are…

  • A marketing channel authority with effective project management skills.

  • Strong in guiding content ideation through research on audience insights, ecommerce trends, channel performance, and insights from competitors.

  • A meticulous copywriter with solid editing skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team, collaborative environment is critical

  • Outstanding at running multiple projects at once and shifting priorities under tight time frames.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to develop and measure experiential programs.

  • Interested in learning cultural nuances between countries and how to effectively adapt global strategies.

  • 5+ years leading strategy, but we’re not excluding less experience for those who have a range of applicable skills. Agency/consultancy and/or global firm experience is a plus.

  •  Bachelor degree in business or related field.
