About the Team

We’re looking for a dynamic individual who can engage and develop relationships to launch new sellers across Electronics and Media, encompassing both our pristine and refurbished business.

The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Head of Category in building, leading and delivering the end to end acquisition pipeline to optimise the selection of brands and inventory on the eBay platform for customers.

The role encompasses both New and Refurbished selling models and requires the ability to understand and articulate the value chain and the gains sellers can drive through operational and commercial efficiencies.

  • Prospective sellers

  • Merchant Integration Solutions

  • Category Management

  • Horizontal Trading

  • Marketing

  • Risk & Trust

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate product categories and identify potential new seller opportunities, developing a framework for prioritising, targeting and acquiring sellers of various sizes and structure to eBay.

  • Develop expert understanding across B2C/C2C trading levers & tools (i.e. coupons, deals); traffic levers including owned/earned/ paid marketing, PR, and advertising channels; and buyer experience capabilities to scale new sellers, brands & partners sustainably.

  • Drive the technical and commercial onboarding processes and considerations for sellers and brands joining online marketplaces.

  • Build long term, trusted and productive internal relationships at all levels to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution of strategic plans.

  • Craft effective trading relationships with clients/suppliers/brands to deliver on their readiness to trade ensuring they are leveraging the full trading capability of the platform whilst growing & maintaining a network of industry contacts.

Requirements

You will have:

  • A standout ability to build, manage & execute a sales funnel/pipeline of ‘new to eBay’ sellers, brands and partners to successfully meet GMV targets by acquiring & scaling a constant stream of new inventory to the platform.

  • Experience of leading, coaching and motivating diverse teams.

  • A strategic and agile approach, constantly improving the acquisition framework, from how we identify leads, to engaging, on-boarding, and preparing these clients for promotional activities.

  • A passion for eBay, our customers and be able to drive a customer-first mind set across the business.

  • Influencing and negotiation skills that mean you can build and maintain mutually beneficial commercial relations plus a deep understanding of brand, seller & partner needs, challenges and opportunities for growth.

  • A strong background and expert understanding of the marketplaces/platform market, from competitors to supporting businesses with a clear point of view on what is required for our partners to succeed in this space.

  • Subject matter expertise within the retail sector with a deep understanding of the overall market and customers (buyers/sellers), across B2C and C2C.

  • Self-sufficient in use of self-serve reporting tools (e.g. Hive, DOMO, TTP report, Planning tool reports) to derive insights that will drive business results.

  • Experience in building new acquisition strategies for large organizations, having led e-commerce commercial teams and consistently delivered strategies effectively even under challenging circumstances.

  • Proven experience of driving commercial objectives that contribute towards the achievement of overall strategic goals
