Overview:

We are hiring a Head of UX and Design (UK) to lead our User Experience teams. In this role you will be responsible for strengthening a multi-disciplinary design function within Product. This includes design strategy, user research and user experience design. 

You will lead a team of UX Designers and Design Leads to improve our product and service experiences. As a member of the UK Product & Technology leadership team you will architect and advocate a UX vision within the UK and global group. You will coach and inspire your team to drive towards innovative solutions based on a ‘hands on’ customer discovery approach. This role involves a high level of collaboration with leaders in product, engineering, analytics, marketing, sales and customer service to create best in class experiences across all of our products. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Define a compelling UX strategy, help shape our product vision for eCG UK 

  • Lead the UX design teams and ensure functional excellence, collaboration and alignment

  • Strengthen all phases of the design process, including research, conceptual design, prototypes, visual design and usability testing

  • Build a strong design culture and help create products that enrich people’s lives 

  • Lead improvements in the user experience, architecture and interaction

  • Articulate a design rationale that balances customer needs and business goals 

  • Advocate user experience best practices 

  • Attract and retain top UX design talent and be actively involved in hiring for roles within P&T 

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the UX design team 

  • Work with Head of Analytics to synthesise customer insights from multiple sources, including internal data, research, NPS, customer support, app ratings and competitors

  • Act as an ambassador for the UK across eCG, helping drive UX insights across the group

  • Oversee the UX budget scorecard, manage external agency partners and vendors

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelors degree

Preferred skills and experience:

  • 8+ years of consumer UX design experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a multi-disciplinary UX team in an agile environment

  • Excellent visual and interaction design skills, with a portfolio of work that contains examples of UX Design and Visual Systems Development for digital applications that work in cross browser environments

  • Experience managing UX research and building customer insights

  • Leadership skills and a proven track record of growing and fostering the culture of UX teams, including coaching and mentoring 

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and an analytical mind with a focus on customer centred design

  • Strong stakeholder management skills to influence across multiple teams at all levels

  • Demonstrate persuasive written, visual and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to speak the language of business, product and technology

  • Open and honest communication style

  • Capable of operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, across multiple teams and balancing multiple priorities

  • Strong sense of fun, operating with humour and a positive demeanour to enthuse and engage people
