Huge impact opportunity in this role

Buyer Growth Engineering team owns many important products like Deals, Events, Home Page, Save/Watch, MyeBay, etc. and other experiences. In other words, this team is responsible for the heart of eBay. We drive billions of dollars in revenue via 100’s of millions of page views delivered daily across the globe, across all devices & browsers. Team and experience have great financial and customer impact and the role has high visibility in the organization. In addition, being the core eBay experience, it has to delight the diverse customer base across the world. You will participate and contribute to major development applications and components which process hundreds of millions of page views each day, and answer more than 1 billion requests in a very short SLA. This is your way to make a direct impact on eBay’s site. Like everything else at eBay, we build scalable and highly-available systems for the millions of users that depend on us to conduct their businesses. In addition, you will be responsible for the high-quality development of Javascript applications that integrate with backend systems; High-quality design and implementation knowledge; Documentation of code and systems; and Support of production applications.

What will you bring to the table?​

Experience with clean code, design patterns, code quality, and Java open source technologies, we’ll be more than happy to see the following competencies as well:

  • 5+ years’ experience in server-side development in Java.

  • Experience with Spring framework.

  • Experience with OO design and design patterns.

  • Advanced knowledge of model-view-controller (MVC) and object-oriented design paradigms.

  • Working knowledge of Java, REST, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, NodeJS is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on the web.

  • Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science BSc.

  • Partner effectively and influence peers, juniors and seniors both within the organization and across eBay

  • Flexibility and passion to learn new domains.

  • Major experience in multi-threading development.

  • Experience in working with agile development methodologies.
