We work in small, focused, collaborative project teams following an agile methodology. Cross functional teams including product management, product development, and UXD work on a daily basis to create a successful product that delights our customers. The Buyer Experience Native development team builds innovative features into the global eBay app. You will work closely with the business and technology teams to develop experiences our customers will love.

As an iOS engineer on the eBay Mobile development team, you should have an established foundation of in iOS, Swift, Objective-C, XCode, XCTest, and familiarity with the integration of network services. You should be proficient in mentoring and collaborating with both junior and senior engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

You must be very familiar with and an advocate of common Agile practices:

  • Designing elegant technical solutions to customer problems
  • TDD, clean code, software craftsmanship
  • Testing at all levels (unit, integration, and UI)
  • Refactoring
  • Continuous delivery and integration
  • Code reviews
  • Standard agile ceremonies (e.g. stand-ups, sprint planning, demos and retrospectives)
  • Training / coaching

You will also be expected to:

  • Integrate closely w/ colleagues in remotely
  • Work optimally with colleagues when we do re-open our offices
  • Evangelize, mentor, and promote mobile development best practices throughout the company
  • Enjoy being on a team of motivated and collaborative high-achievers
  • Communicate optimally within your team and across teams.
  • Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation.

Job Requirements

What we look for in an ideal candidate:

  • 7+ Years of software design and development experience working on a team
  • 5+ years of experience generating commercial quality iOS applications – please provide links to any apps you've published
  • Experience building web services – full stack candidates will be preferred
  • Comfortable with rapid development cycles, tight schedules, close integration with QA and product management
  • Deep understanding mobile application design considerations
  • Deep understanding of visual and interaction design principles for iOS apps
  • Deep understanding of design patterns, and experience working in a layered architecture
  • Strong work ethic – someone who takes great pride in professionalism, responsibility, and being proactive
  • Self-starter, positive can-do attitude with a strong desire to succeed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proactive and hardworking when tackling new challenges
  • The ability to work independently and the confidence to question where necessary
  • An open, sharing, and interactive approach to software development
  • Some travel may be required

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
