MTS 1 - Software Engineer (iOS)

Location:

Portland, Oregon, United States
Requisition Number:
R0055329

Looking for a company that inspires passion, courage and creativity, where you can be on the team shaping the future of global commerce? Want to shape how millions of people buy, sell, connect, and share around the world? If you’re interested in joining a purpose driven community that is dedicated to crafting an ambitious and inclusive work environment, join eBay – a company you can be proud to be with.

As the iOS engineer in the Selling Team, you should have an established foundation in iOS, Swift, (some Objective-C is great), as well as fluency in Agile engineering practices and delivery. We're focused on improving the experience of selling items on eBay and work closely with our business team to identify great features, interface improvements and emerging technologies to help our customers. Quality is more than just code coverage, and everyone is responsible for keeping the bar high. We work with geographically dispersed teams, so excellent communication and remote collaboration skills are necessary for our projects to succeed

eBay is a global commerce leader that allows you to shape how the world buys, sells, and gives. You’ll be part of a work culture that’s been genuinely committed to diversity and inclusion since its founding more than 20 years ago. Here, you can just be yourself, do your best work, and have an important impact on people across the globe. We are looking for people with drive, ideas, and a passion for helping small businesses succeed to help shape the future of eBay—does this sound like you? If so, we’d love to talk to you!

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelors + 6 years or Masters +5 years experience in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years software design and development experience working on a team
  • You should already have an established foundation in iOS, Swift (some experience with Objective-C is great), as well as fluency in Agile engineering practices and delivery.
  • We follow agile practices and focus on continual improvement in our practices, driven from the ground up. We expect you to advocate for improvements in code and culture, and to support your colleagues in the same.
  • We enjoy TDD, pairing, code reviews, and other techniques to maintain high-quality code and resiliency as a team. Quality is more than just code coverage, and everyone is responsible for keeping the bar high.
  • Able to own major features/architecture of the iOS application and develop it fully
  • Proven deep knowledge of mobile application design considerations and mobile UX patterns especially on iOS
  • Working well with team members (including some that are remote) and also other teams we work with
  • Experience with XCode profilers, debuggers (e.g. Charles), revision control systems (e.g. Git), and bug tracking (e.g. Jira)
  • Design and build the next generation of our mobile applications
  • Partner and collaborate with other organizations throughout eBay

Who are we looking for?

During our interviews, expect to discuss and demonstrate that you're able to meet these qualifications:

  • 3+ years software design and development experience working on a team
  • 3+ years experience developing and integrating with web services and databases
  • 5 years of professional software development, working in teams with a mix of engineers and non-engineers.
  • 3+ years writing iOS applications with Swift on iOS (some Objective-C a plus), preferably with a focus on e-commerce and service-driven architecture. Please provide links to any apps you've published or open-source projects you've contributed to! We're excited to see what you've built.
  • Evidence that you can deliver on challenging, long term projects. A degree is great, but not necessary for most of the work we do. We'll happily consider equivalent professional experience.
  • Interest and enthusiasm about making eBay a better marketplace for everyone, everywhere.
  • Must have great communication skills and the ability to work well with others

Benefits are an essential part of your total compensation for the work you do every day.
