Sr. Director, Mobile Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Director of Mobile Engineering to lead our native application teams. This role reports into the Vice President of Buyer Experience Engineering. As part of the Buyer Experience team, this role has great customer and financial impact, with high visibility in the organization. To continue on this trajectory, we’re searching for a highly qualified leader with expertise in native app development and management. This leader will work closely with several engineering leaders and executive teams. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in engineering leadership & management roles, and interdepartmental collaboration. 


  • Layout and deliver the long term vision and strategy for the native application architecture. 

  • Work with various leaders across the company to influence the future of native app development, while delivering the ongoing business objectives.

  • Customer-first focus, passion for delivering great product and drive for results

  • Identify and improve operational, process and execution inefficiencies within and across teams, challenge the status quo and bring in required changes.

  • Mentor and grow an energetic, diverse, and driven team with a good mix of talent across levels

  • Recruit and build great engineering talent, motivate and inspire them to do their best everyday


  • 12+ years of software development experience

  • 7+ years of experience in managing and leading a large engineering organization including architects and other managers

  • Need extensive experience in building and leading teams that build iOS and Android apps that touches millions of customers

  • Experience working on large scale distributed backend systems & services.

  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, negotiation and communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced environment

  • Partner with Product Development Managers and partners from remote locations

  • Understand the business goals and metrics, and enable your org towards achieving these goals 

  • Ability to think big picture while focusing on details 


  • Passion for designing and building very large-scale distributed systems 

  • Proven ability to earn respect, trust and influence from people you work with and to mentor top technical talent.

  • BS/MS in information technology, computer science or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience..

  • Should have held a number of different leadership positions over your career so far and figured out how to scale teams and platforms for high throughput and efficiency

  • Able to set high standards and have demonstrated the ability to build and lead a high-performance team
