WHI Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay Inc. WHI’s ecommerce solutions enable $5.5 billion in B2B ecommerce sales each year for hundreds of thousands of automotive repair businesses across North America.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support the automation and deployment needs of our growing ecommerce platforms. A candidate should have strong Linux skills and should be able to use Kubernetes/Docker in a fast paced production web environment. The candidate will be asked to use these skills to identify and drive improvements to our scalability, fault tolerance and overall performance. Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and manage production container orchestration solutions (Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm etc...)
  • Design and automate system management using CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab CI + Jenkins)
  • Design, plan and deploy hosting infrastructure for redundant Linux based micro services.
  • Develop/Deploy monitoring of IT systems and services using open source frameworks such as Nagios, CheckMK, APM, Prometheus and Grafana
  • Problem solving and incident management skills.
  • Design and implement full stack production containerization platforms.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent experience.
  • Production experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker / Kubernetes / Swarm)
  • 5+ years of Linux (CentOS / RHEL 7.x) Admin experience including troubleshooting.
  • 5+ years of production management experience in a high uptime environment.
  • Experience using orchestration and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet)
  • Solid scripting experience (Bash, Python etc...)
  • Experience building and maintaining Internet facing production environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and project leading skills

Experience with these technologies is a plus:

  • API gateway platforms like Kong and Kuma (Service Mesh)
  • Experience implementing solutions like RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pub/Sub (Message Queue)
  • Caching/NoSQL solutions, such as Redis and Memcached
  • Clustered search solutions such as the ELK Stack (Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana)
  • NGINX, Apache, Jetty
  • Experience with Virtualization (VMware)
  • Experience with SQL server technologies
