Manager, Risk Operations

Ebay is looking for a highly motivated and talented Manager to join the Risk Operations Team. Risk Management is at the core of Payments done well – and we are hiring curious, driven, and fearless experts to transform our business unit and enable eBay's next generation Payments strategy. Our focus is to ensure the integrity of our marketplace for buyers and sellers who transact with us every single day. The scope of our charter includes Risk Management Strategy, Policy, Decision Sciences, and Policy Operations.

As a Manager of Risk Operations, you will lead a team of specialists who’s responsibilities are to build, test, optimize, and uphold processes to monitor and control risk on eBay. You have strong attention to detail, strong work ethic and drive, can recommend solutions to various problems, and have excellent communication skills -including follow-up.

  • A strong communicator. You have excellent social skills, communication, and leadership skills. In addition, you have an aptitude to positively influence and collaborate with many, varied teams and colleagues.
  • An agile teammate. You are a standout colleague who demonstrates agility and flexibility in fast-changing and undefined situations.
  • A trusted partner. You will partner with Policy, Customer Operations, and a global cross-functional team to keep questionable activity at manageable levels. You will consider impact to global customers when making decisions.

We need:

  • A time manager. You have successfully taken ownership of project timelines by effectively multi-tasking.
  • A self-starter. You work effectively in an autonomous fashion and demonstrate willingness to enable the success of partners worldwide.
  • A creative mind. You're passionate about chasing fraud and thinking creatively for solutions to challenging situations. You love constructing processes to detect and disposition accounts and/or listing referrals which block or restrict questionable activity.
  • A critical thinker. You will participate in architecture and design decisions within your team in building new ways to craft, optimize, and maintain risk processes and controls.
  • An eBay guru. Your knowledge of eBay’s policies is well-rounded. Having a good understanding of internal systems such as IFD and eLVIS is a plus.
  • This is a global role. You are able to build and maintain positive relationships with global and remote partners.
  • You may potentially assist in maintaining rule platform, deploying rule sets, triaging, and tracking bugs.
  • You have a bachelors degree and/or three years work experience in a related field (Risk Management, Quantitative Research, Consulting)
