The role

The Payments Technology team is comprised of highly motivated, creative engineers tasked with leading the charge of shaping eBay’s managed payments technology, applying emerging technologies to create the safest, most seamless payment's network in the world.

Our vision is to build and scale a secure, resilient, configurable and intelligent platform that supports rapid delivery, has deep operational capabilities and executes with world class quality.

This Senior Software Automation Engineer for Payments Technology will develop tools, platforms, and processes to support the Global Payments business. Work with delivery leads, other developers, product managers, QA, and operations teams to develop solutions enable the delivery of high performance, scalability, and reliability. Participate in continuous improvement of Payment 2.0 products to achieve better quality. Improve operational processes, such as automation and controls, to help with efficiency and quality of both manual and technical operations.

This position requires a deep understanding of software quality, including automated testing technology, standard methodologies, and a passion for solving complex business problems through technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop libraries and frameworks to improve our client development and testing experience.

  • Deliver great code and iterate as fast as needed.

  • Deploy strategies that improve engineering productivity.

  • Participate in test design and code reviews; can competently review product test approaches.

  • Contributes to test design discussions and proposes testing solutions to system and product changes.

Requirements:

  • Experienced in delivering high quality, complex risk and payments software globally

  • Experience integrating development products with automation frameworks, CI, Build Systems

  • Experience with service-oriented architecture, web services and APIs

  • Comfortable communicating and influencing peers across the organization

  • Proven experience working in agile environment and cross functional teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience

  • 7+ years of experience in software design, development with a focus on test engineering

  • 7+ years programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C/C++

  • 5+ years experience developing in JavaScript frameworks like React

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in developing user facing product experiences

  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures

  • Experience delivering solutions leveraging Machine Learning
