Manager, Strategy & Operations Recent GraduateSan Jose, California
New York, New York Requisition Number R0040936 Subsidiary eBay
WHI Solutions is a wholly-owned subsidiary of eBay. Founded in 1999 and acquired by eBay in 2012, WHI solutions has two main interlocking businesses: Operates the B2B Nexpart eCommerce platform, which connects auto parts distributors and manufacturers to Independent Repair Shops and other wholesale car parts buyers. Creates and sells data for the auto parts and heavy-duty truck parts space with a focus on North America. Customers of WHI Solutions data products use WHI data to power their car parts buying and selling experiences.
WHI also provides the catalog data and parts listing solutions that power the ebay.com automotive parts vertical on eBay.
WHI solutions is operated by a team of roughly 90 people. The headquarters is in Rye Brook, NY with an office in Valencia, California, as well as smaller offices in Lisbon, Portugal, and Chennai, India. WHI also has a large portion of its employees working remotely.
The role is to lead and execute against a pricing and costing strategy project for WHI solutions, working closely with the Director of Customer Service and Implementation and the GM of WHI. WHI has historically executed against a pricing model that relies heavily on having customers pay directly to implement the Nexpart B2B eCommerce platform into their business and with their customers. Likewise, WHI pays other software vendors to integrate Nexpart into their products, which WHI then incorporates into its own customer pricing. This results in a complex pricing and cost ecosystem. As WHI looks to refocus its efforts coming out of the headwinds impacted by Corona Virus, now is a good time to rethink this pricing and cost approach.
Specific areas of focus include:
Developing an in-depth understanding of WHIs current cost structure and revenue streams
Working to tie and size these revenue streams against specific pricing components, e.g., upfront fees, pass-through costs, take rate, other fixed monthly billing.
Running a series of scenarios, potentially informing pilots, to test different monetization approaches
Working closely with the billing team and customer implementation team to understand the customer and P&L implications of different models
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program obtaining a MBA degree in Business or a related field
3-5 years of relevant work experience
This is an opportunity to work closely with the management team of a small but highly profitable business inside the context of a large parent company (eBay). This would be a good fit for someone interested in General Management broadly, and/or someone interested in the revenue management or strategy job functions.
Work will blend a mix of qualitative and quantitative dimensions. Experience with mid-level excel analysis and modeling is a must. SQL experience is nice-to-have but not need-to-have. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and a strong professional drive are a must. Automotive experience is not required, an interest in the automotive space is a nice-to-have.
